Tin Jedvaj leaves Roma for Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have completed the permanent signing of Tin Jedvaj from Serie A side Roma.

The 19-year-old joined the Bundesliga club on loan at the start of the season and he has impressed enough during the first half of the season to convince the club to make a bid to Roma for the Croatia international to join them permanently.

That bid, as yet undisclosed, has been accepted.

"We're happy and very satisfied that, after fair negotiations with AS Roma, we have been able to tie Tin Jedvaj down to us in the long term," said Leverkusen's general manager Michael Schade on the Bundesliga club's official website.

"He has developed exceptionally well in recent months. Bayer have thus sent out another signal that we will continue to invest in young, promising players also in the future. He is going to be a cornerstone of our team in years to come."

Jedvaj, who made 14 appearances in the first half of the Bundesliga season, scoring twice, said: "I'm happy. Bayer is the best option for me and it's good for my development. I now really want to put my foot down in Leverkusen."

Former Roma forward Rudi Voller, who netted 45 goals in 142 games for the Giallorossi, also welcomed the transfer.

"Tin Jedvaj has great potential and he has been able to show that over and over again during just a few months with us," said Leverkusen's sporting director. "His versatility is going to give us much more pleasure to come, which is why we have opted to tie him down to us immediately."
