Schalke's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar returns to team training for Dortmund derby

Schalke have been handed a welcome injury boost as Klaas-Jan Huntelaar returned to team training on Monday.

Huntelaar, 31, could be fit to return for the Bundesliga club in their upcoming Revierderby at Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

The Netherlands international missed the last four league games following his red card in the home win against Hannover on Jan. 31, and was substituted in the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid last week with a bruised shin.

The club announced that the striker returned to team training following his injury, scoring several goals during the final passing routine.

The return of Huntelaar will give Schalke a much-needed boost in attack, with the Royal Blues failing to score more than once in their last seven competitive games in which they clocked up a total of four goals.

Schalke will however go into the 146th Revierderby against Dortmund without defender Joel Matip.

The 23-year-old pulled a hamstring in the 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen last Saturday, and is set to be out for approximately two weeks.
