Leicester's Papy Mendy set for another 'four or five weeks' on sidelines

Papy Mendy is unlikely to return to action for Leicester City for "four or five weeks" because of an ankle injury, Claudio Ranieri has confirmed.

Mendy, 24, has not featured for the Foxes since going off injured during the goalless draw against Arsenal on Aug. 20 and has now undergone surgery.

"Mendy was unlucky," Claudio Ranieri said. "In the last training session he had a little fracture of the bone. I think today he is in surgery just to clean this little fragment of bone out.

"It depends how long, it could be four weeks or five weeks. I don't know. He was an unlucky man."

Meanwhile, Shinji Okasaki is in line for a recall against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League after missing Saturday's 3-0 defeat against Chelsea.

The Japan international was rested after returning from his country's World Cup qualifying game against Australia.

"Shinji didn't play because every time he comes back from international matches he is not Shinji," Ranieri said. "It is his brother.

"He needs to recover a little more for this reason I put him in the stand. He is very important for us and a fantastic player and he can help us a lot. He is available for tomorrow."
