Girona battle back to earn point against Sociedad

Girona and Real Sociedad shared the spoils from a 1-1 draw on Friday night.

Visitors Sociedad struck early when Willian Jose fired home a low shot from close range after just seven minutes and the visitors were good value for their lead as they stayed on top for most of the first half.

However, Girona goalkeeper Bono had to make only one save as Sociedad saw a string of attempts go wide or be blocked.

Girona, on a three-match LaLiga winning streak coming into the game, were much brighter in the second half as they peppered Geronimo Rulli's goal with efforts, finding an equaliser in the 64th minute when Cristhian Stuani headed from Portu's cross.

Adnan Januzaj had three chances to find a winner for Sociedad, but the game ended in a draw.

The result moves Sociedad up to seventh place, two points better off than Girona who are 10th before the rest of the weekend's action.
