Wolfsburg interested in Borussia Monchengladbach striker Max Kruse

Wolfsburg are interested in signing Germany striker Max Kruse from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Kruse, 27, has a Gladbach contract that runs for another two seasons, but he has a transfer release clause of €12 million.

Wolfsburg managing director Klaus Allofs confirmed the club's interest in the forward, but told kicker magazine that they are not the only side seeking Kruse's services.

"It is known that Max Kruse has the opportunity to leave his club," Allofs said.
"[But] we are aware that we are not alone."

Gladbach have not given up hope of extending Kruse's contract and will talk to his agent later this month.

Kruse scored Gladbach's last-minute winning goal on Sunday that cut the gap on second-placed Wolfsburg to four points -- a strike which also delivered the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich.

Kruse has scored 21 goals in 62 matches for Gladbach over the last two seasons.
