Bristol City sign Bournemouth striker Lee Tomlin on loan for rest of season

Championship strugglers Bristol City have signed Bournemouth striker Lee Tomlin on loan for the rest of the season.

Tomlin, 27, could make his debut for the Robins at home to Birmingham on Saturday.

He began his career at Rushden and Diamonds before playing for Peterborough, Middlesbrough and then Bournemouth.

But he has struggled for playing time on the south coast, making 10 appearances and scoring one goal, and now Bristol City caretaker boss John Pemberton hopes he can help steer them to safety.

"We've been monitoring his situation at Bournemouth and it's great that we've been able to bring him on board," Pemberton told the club's official website.

"He wants to play football and he'll bring us ability and experience. We've already spoken about the way we want to set the team up with a tighter back line, but we can't neglect the fact we need to score goals.

"Hopefully Lee will give us that in the final third. In tight games, he can be the one to notch something for us."
