Vancouver Whitecaps add Jordon Mutch on loan from Crystal Palace

The Vancouver Whitecaps completed the loan signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch on Friday.

Mutch will move to MLS on loan until the end of the season in December. He is already with his new club and could play as early as the season opener against Montreal on Sunday.

"Jordon is a top midfielder who has played at the highest level," Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson said in a statement. "He's played against the Chelseas, Arsenals, and Manchester Uniteds and now he wants to prove himself again in a new environment.

"He likes to get forward, he's full of energy, and he's in the prime of his career. We're delighted to have him here."

The 26-year-old's future at Palace has been the subject of speculation for some time with the midfielder not figuring in first-team plans this season.

Mutch has not made a single appearance for Roy Hodgson's side this season and has only featured three times on the bench.

Mutch, who joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in January 2015, spent the second half of last season out on loan at Reading, but returned to the club last summer.

The former England under-21 international was linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers on loan on transfer deadline day in January, but the deal fell through.
