Man United's Adnan Januzaj being monitored by Everton - sources

Everton would be expected to lead the bidding for Adnan Januzaj if Manchester United made him available for loan next season.

The Merseysiders have a long-standing interest in the 20-year-old, sources told ESPN FC, and while United are yet to decide whether the Belgian will be required in Louis van Gaal's squad next season, Everton are likely to be on alert if he is allowed to leave.

United received inquiries in January from clubs hoping to take Januzaj on loan for the second half of the current campaign but insisted he remained part of their plans.

But Januzaj has not started a game since the 3-1 win against Burnley on Feb. 11 and has become United's fourth-choice winger, after Ashley Young, Juan Mata and Angel Di Maria.

Van Gaal is also keen to strengthen his forward line and PSV Eindhoven have confirmed United have made contact with them about Memphis Depay, the top scorer in the Eredivisie.

Should United manage to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, then that would give them another option in attack and mean Januzaj could drop further down the pecking order.

Everton will make a decision in the summer whether to try and sign another winger, on-loan Aaron Lennon, who has impressed during his spell at Goodison Park.

But there is uncertainty about the future of Kevin Mirallas, while Steven Pienaar has struggled with injuries.

Manager Roberto Martinez has a track record of signing young players on loan from major clubs, borrowing Gerard Deulofeu from Barcelona and Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea during his time at Goodison Park.

He also loaned Tom Cleverley from United during his time in charge of Wigan, and this month he refused to rule out a move for the midfielder this summer.
