Bayern Munich hopeful of signing Norway international Martin Odegaard

Bayern Munich hope to be "the best looking groom" in the race for the "beautiful bride" Martin Odegaard, the club's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said.

Odegaard, who became the youngest player to appear in a European Championship qualifier earlier this year, has been linked with several European clubs in recent months and weeks.

The Norway international turned 16 on Wednesday, and is now free to sign a contract with a club in the European Union.

It is reported that the highly rated youngster will announce his decision to leave his current club Stromsgodset in the upcoming month.

Last week, he spent time on trial at Liverpool, before making his way to Munich to train with the Pep Guardiola XI.

It is also claimed that he then headed back to England, where he visited Arsenal on Tuesday.

According to Sport Bild, the midfielder is also set for trials at Barcelona and Ajax, while Marca reported on Wednesday that Odegaard has asked Real Madrid, another club chasing the youngster, for more time to make a decision.

On Tuesday, German outlet Sport 1 reported that despite the level of interest, Odegaard has already made up his mind and is set to sign with the Bundesliga champions -- however, a correction was issued that stated Bayern only lead the race.

"This young man needs time to make the right decision," Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on Tuesday, in quotes reported by wire dpa. "No decision has been made. He is an interesting player, and we are out for him."

"Obviously a beautiful bride, and many grooms are waiting on the door step. Maybe we are the best looking groom."
