Having done little to catch the eye at the World Cup, Brazilian striker Fred has also found himself on the receiving end of some harsh criticism at domestic level the past few weeks after managing to score a fairly measly one goal in his past seven games for Fluminense.
Even Fred's solitary goal wasn't greeted with much enthusiasm from the Flu faithful, being as it was an almost irrelevant consolation effort in a recent 5-2 cup trouncing at the hands of Serie B side America FC.
Indeed, the Fred ire among Flu fans reached a whole new level of intensity on Sunday evening when the 30-year-old forward botched a late penalty kick against local rivals Botafogo in typically woeful fashion, ballooning his soft spot-kick high over the bar in the final few minutes of a 2-0 defeat.
This latest "Fred-tastrophe" spurred a small group of thoroughly furious Flu fans to deliver a message to the club directly, sneaking up to the perimeter walls of their training ground and daubing "Fred Out" all over it in large letters.

Awww, poor Fred. He only wants to be loved.
