Aston Villa have released striker Darren Bent and offered centre-back Ron Vlaar a new contract.
Bent, 31, joined Villa from Sunderland for £18 million in 2011, but played just 61 Premier League games for the club in four seasons while scoring 21 times.
The England international spent time on loan at Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion and Derby County during his time at Villa, with Tim Sherwood's side deciding against offering the forward a new deal.
Bent has been linked with a permanent switch to Derby in recent weeks having scored 10 goals in 15 games while on loan at the Championship side during the second half of the 2014-15 campaign.

Meanwhile, Villa have offered Netherlands international Vlaar a new deal with his existing contract set to expire at the end of June.
Sherwood has previously underlined his desire to keep the 30-year-old at Villa Park, while Vlaar admitted after Villa's FA Cup semifinal win over Liverpool in April that Sherwood's appointment as manager had changed things for him at the club and he was considering staying.
Sherwood had shelved any contract talks with Vlaar until Villa had secured their Premier League future, with the club eventually reaching safety by finishing 17th.
Vlaar has made 88 appearances for Villa and captained the side before being replaced as skipper by Fabian Delph this season.
The defender impressed at last summer's World Cup in Brazil as the Oranje finished third, and Villa have moved to try and keep Vlaar -- previously linked with Manchester United -- at Villa Park beyond this summer.
Enda Stevens is also leaving Villa on a free transfer, while under-21 players Graham Burke, Alfie Crooks, Craig Hill, Brad Lewis, Isaac Nehemie, Daniel O'Brien, Thomas Strain and Courtney Wildin have been released alongside academy youngsters Dylan Forth, Harry Lewis and Ryan Strain.
The club also confirmed that Sherwood will be monitoring Chris Herd during preseason after the Australia international -- whose Villa deal also expires this summer -- recovered from a knee injury sustained while on loan at Wigan.
