Sevilla signing Mariano Ferreira hopes to emulate Dani Alves for Brazil

Mariano Ferreira is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Dani Alves after signing a three-year contract with Sevilla.

Mariano, 29, was unveiled to the media on Tuesday after completing his move from Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux.

The uncapped Brazilian right-back is looking to take inspiration from compatriot Alves, who spent six years in Andalusia between 2002 and 2008 during which time he made his international debut.

"He has done many good things here and I want to do the same," he told the club's official website. "Dani has played in the Brazilian national team and for me to be where he was, it's very important."

On his move, he added: "I am very happy because Sevilla are a great club and I am very pleased to be here.

"I like playing in front and I have ambition. My strongest features are get forward and help teammates."

Meanwhile, midfielder Borja Lasso has signed a new one-year deal with Sevilla after initially rejecting their offer and allowing his contract to expire on June 30.

Among the new faces at Sevilla are Italian forward Ciro Immobile, who has joined on loan from Borussia Dortmund, and Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, a long-term target of the club who has joined as a free agent.
