Crystal Palace linked with Alex Song; Aston Villa seek to sell Joleon Lescott

The summer window will be opening before you know it, and rumours around the world are picking up steam. As always, Transfer Talk has its finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest gossip. See the latest deals here.

Top Story: Song set for Palace move?

According to the Sun, Barcelona midfielder Alex Song could be headed for a move to Crystal Palace this summer.

Song is in his second season on loan to West Ham, but hasn't been a part of Slaven Bilic's plans at the Boleyn Ground this campaign. Palace could be extra motivated by the rumoured £4 million cut-rate price tag for the 28-year-old.

Song, who has never delivered on the potential that saw him move from Arsenal to Barca in 2012 for £15m, has a clause in his contract that would allow the Hammers to sign him permanently. The report says he's been informed the club won't exercise that option.

A Palace move for Song would also necessitate that the Cameroon international take a pay-cut from his current wage package of £80,000 per week at Upton Park.

Jo won't go from Villa

It wasn't the best week for Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott. After the Villains relegation was confirmed with a 1-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday, the 33-year-old told reporters he felt as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

Obviously those statements didn't sit too well with the club's supporters, and the Mirror says they didn't go over too well in the boardroom either, with the Villa brass now ready to get the weight of Lescott's wage bill off their shoulders.

Therein lies the problem for Aston Villa, though, as Lescott has another year left to go on his contract and is "willing to see it out in the Championship," according to the report. The former England international makes around £40,000 per week and arrived to Villa from Man City for a £2m fee.

Chelsea to move for Stones, Lukaku

It hasn't been the best of seasons for Everton and Wednesday's 4-0 thrashing at the hands of their Liverpool rivals in the Merseyside derby was truly adding insult to injury for the Toffees.

Now Chelsea may be ready to add more insult on top of the existing woe at Everton by making a move for two of the club's top players. According to ESPN FC sources, Antonio Conte would love to see defender John Stones and striker Romelu Lukaku make a move to Stamford Bridge as the Italian moves forward with a squad overhaul ahead of his first season as manager.

The sources also said that a move for Lukaku shouldn't be a sign that Chelsea are ready to part ways with Diego Costa, with the Spaniard happy in London and making no indication that he's keen for a return to Atletico Madrid as some transfer rumours have suggested in recent weeks.

Tap-ins

- Paul Pogba has been linked with a host of Europe's top clubs, but according to Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta, the French midfielder is a "fundamental player for the Turin giants and says the club have ruled out selling him in the summer window.

- Dortmund's Mats Hummels admitted he's losing sleep over his future, with numerous reports linking him to a Premier League move this summer and Manchester City leading the charge. The German international said: "I've set a date [for my decision]. But I'm keeping it to myself. It's costing me half an hour before bed every night."

- Another one from the Mirror here, who claim that Everton boss Roberto Martinez has one chance of keeping his job at Goodison Cup: FA Cup glory. That begins with Saturday's semifinal versus Manchester United at Wembley.

- Sunderland have announced that U.S. U20 international Lynden Gooch has signed a new contract with the club that will keep him at the Stadium of Light until 2019. The 20-year-old joined the club in 2012.
