CSKA hopeful over permanent Seydou Doumbia transfer from Roma

CSKA Moscow want to make Seydou Doumbia's move from Roma permanent in the summer but are waiting for the Serie A club to reveal their plans for him.

Doumbia, 27, returned to CSKA on loan in the summer after a disappointing six months in Italy following his €15 million switch to Rome.

CSKA are now keen to make that loan deal full-time, and general manager Roman Babaev said talks were ongoing.

"Doumbia's situation is still being assessed," he told Russia's Tass news agency, calcionews24.com reported.

"We are in constant contact with Roma, but the Giallorossi cannot yet make their minds up on Seydou's future.

"The main scope of the winter transfer window is to improve our current squad, keeping the players we already have, and the main question for us is linked to Doumbia. If he were to return to Italy, we would have to find a replacement."

Ivory Coast international Doumbia has scored five goals in 13 league games for CSKA this season, in addition to three in the Champions League group stage.

In six months with Roma he scored just two goals, playing only two full games, leading to his return to Russia.
