Granit Xhaka will do Arsenal a lot of good - Switzerland's Johan Djourou

LENS, France -- New Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka will have few problems adapting to the Premier League, according to his Switzerland teammates Johan Djourou and Valon Behrami.

Xhaka, 23, sealed a £30 million move to Arsenal last month and gave a glimpse of what is to come with a man of the match display in Switzerland's 1-0 win over Albania at Euro 2016.

Xhaka's mix of tough tackling and clever passing for Switzerland stood out and Djourou, who spent a decade at Arsenal between 2004 and 2014, is sure that his teammate will have no trouble having a similar influence in the Premier League.

"I think he won't have a problem," the Hamburg centre-back told ESPN FC. "He's a top-class player with lots of qualities. I think he'll do Arsenal a lot of good.

"It's a team with a lot of talent and a lot of class. There's people like [Francis] Coquelin and [Santi] Cazorla -- there's huge competition -- but I'm sure that he has the quality to impose himself.

"He brings calmness, his ability to play long passes, precision and aggression."

The match was notable for Xhaka taking on his older brother, Albania midfielder Taulant, and Djourou, 29, was impressed by how Arsene Wenger's latest signing had handled the situation.

"It's clear that in terms of emotions it mustn't have been very easy," Djourou said following the game. "Being brothers, you know each other's weaknesses and strengths so I think it was a very special moment for both of them.

"He managed the pressure well and he managed his emotions. But that's important. That's what you ask a young player like that, to be able to keep his nerve and to bring his talent to the team."

Watford's Valon Behrami, Xhaka's midfield partner for Switzerland, is also confident that his international teammate will impress in the Premier League.

"Everybody needs time and he will need time as well, but he is a great player," Behrami told ESPN FC. "He's a top player and he's going to go to play in a team which is good for his quality because he likes to play the ball and he's quite technical.

"And he can do both sides. He can win the ball and he's got good tackling skills. I think he's a great signing for Arsenal and for him as well it's a great move."

Behrami believes it is also good news for the Swiss national team too and, given that Watford and Arsenal train nearby to each other, he is planning to help Xhaka out next season.

"The training grounds are close so I'm going to help him with what he needs to settle down, and I think he's going to have a great season in the Premier League," he said.

As for Switzerland's victory, Behrami, 31, was happy to have got through what was an unusual game for players on both sides.

The former West Ham, Napoli and Hamburg man is one of several Swiss players who could also have chosen to represent Albania at international level.

"It was quite a strange situation," Behrami said. "It would never happen normally, a situation like this with the national team.

"There was six of us and it was tough. Since the beginning, the pressure was so much.

"But we knew already. Over two months ago already I prepared the guys. I said, 'Listen, it's going to be hard. Prepare yourself mentally just to be focused on the game -- nothing else.'

"And that's just what we did. We had a little bit of luck as well but it's OK. We got the three points and we're happy."
