Wolfsburg's Luiz Gustavo tempted by move amid Inter Milan, Juve interest

Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo has confirmed Inter Milan and Juventus made an approach for him in the summer, amid rumours the Serie A club are set to launch another bid this winter.

The Nerazzurri's offer, believed to be in the region of €15 million, was rejected by the Wolves, who had paid €20m to Bayern Munich for the Brazilian's services in 2013, while Juve's bid came too late for Gustavo to give it any real consideration.

"I said that I want to do something different, but it didn't work out," Gustavo told kicker. "There were enquiries from Inter, while Juve also got in touch two days before the transfer window closed. It never came into question leaving so late."

Gustavo started the season as Wolfsburg's captain, although a muscular injury saw him miss four games before the dismissal of Dieter Hecking and arrival of Valerien Ismael saw club captain Diego Benaglio return to the starting XI, and he has worn the armband since.

Although he has been an almost ever-present this season, Gustavo's future at the Bundesliga club is far from certain and with the next transfer window approaching, Inter are once again reported to be pondering a bid. If it matches the Wolves' expectations, a move could happen this time.

"There's speculation about leaving in every transfer window," Gustavo said. "If something comes which is good for both parties, then we will talk, but I don't know of anything."

Luiz Gustavo won the Bundesliga title and the Champions League with Bayern, with whom he also lifted the German Cup -- a trophy he has also won with Wolfsburg.
