West Bromwich Albion have agreed a deal to loan Craig Gardner to Birmingham City, sources close to the Premier League club have told ESPN FC.
West Brom boss Tony Pulis said last week that Birmingham were interested in bringing Gardner back to St Andrew's during this month's transfer window.
Gardner, a boyhood Birmingham fan, played 52 times for the Blues between January 2010 and June 2011 after signing from rivals Aston Villa.
The 30-year-old has found himself down the pecking order at West Brom this season, starting just two Premier League games this season with another seven appearances off the bench.
Birmingham boss Gianfranco Zola is desperate to strengthen his squad during this month's transfer window as he has yet to pick up a win since replacing Gary Rowett as manager last month.
Sources said Birmingham have agreed a deal to take Gardner on loan for the remainder of the season with the move to become permanent in the summer.
Gardner is due to undergo a medical at Birmingham on Wednesday after Pulis gave him the green light to leave The Hawthorns.
