New York Red Bulls sign Norway's Fredrik Gulbrandsen on loan

The New York Red Bulls have acquired Norway international forward Fredrik Gulbrandsen on loan from sister club Red Bull Salzburg, according to an interview the player gave to Verdens Gang.

Multiple league sources have confirmed to ESPN FC that Gulbrandsen's deal is done, and consists of a one-year loan.

Gulbrandsen will fill the international roster spot that was freed up when the Red Bulls placed Gideon Baah on the season-ending injury list on Wednesday.

Gulbrandsen stated that a delay in acquiring his visa was preventing him from joining up with his new club, but that he had now been cleared.

Gulbrandsen will be hoping that a change of scenery will result in him getting more minutes on the field. So far this season he has scored two goals in 17 league and cup appearances. His last appearance came as a substitute back on Dec. 17 in a 3-0 win over Wolfsberger AC.

Gulbrandsen had previously played for Lillestrom, Lyn, and Molde back in Norway.
