SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter has sounded a warning to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their Nedbank Cup quarter-final on Saturday.

It's been a roller-coaster season for Matsatsantsa - they went 19 matches unbeaten, but have not won in their last five League matches. However, they have made their way through the Nedbank Cup and into the CAF Confederations Cup group stages.

By contrast, Chiefs are on a 14-game unbeaten run, but Baxter has warned his former team that over-confidence will leave them with egg on their face.

"Every time that I have won the championship or a cup there has always been some sort of critical time or tipping point, and I am sure that Chiefs will look back at this run and build the confidence," the Englishman told the media.

"When you are there you also get luck to your side in this run which builds momentum and you keep going, that is what Steve [Komphela] has had now.

"In terms of the actual job that they are doing I am guessing they are doing it with a lot more confidence now and they are expecting a victory [on Saturday].

"But then going into the cup that goes out of the window a little bit because they know that it is the width of the coat to paint and that can dictate on who wins the game.

"So I think they know going into this now that they will facing a hungry team that really wants to get back on track. The run that is behind them won't count for a lot in this one off encounter."
