Asamoah Gyan steals the show during Kayserispor preseason

Asamoah Gyan has wasted little time in reaffirming his quality at new club Kayserispor after signing for the Turkish side earlier this month.

The Ghana international returned to Europe after five years spent in the United Arab Emirates and China.

When Kayerispor, who finished 15th in the Turkish top flight last season, confirmed the deal for the 31-year-old, it looked as though they'd pulled off a coup, and Gyan's form in friendlies has done much to enforce this notion.

The former Sunderland man opened the scoring in the 16th minute of his new club's friendly against Qatari side Al-Duhail SC on Sunday when he struck a fine free kick.

The striker's effort was ultimately cancelled out by Ismail Muhammad just after the half-hour mark, but it was yet another demonstration of the West African's potent threat.

On Thursday, he'd also scored twice as the Anatolian Star downed Hannover 96 4-2 in a friendly, hitting an 82nd-minute penalty and then adding the Turkish side's third minutes later.

Kayserispor, who also boast African talent in Ali Ahamada (Comoros), Stephane Badji (Senegal), Ryan Mendes (Cape Verde), Landry N'Guemo, Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik (both Cameroon), begin their Super Lig campaign away at Galatasaray on August 14.
