Midfielder Walter Montoya has left Sevilla to sign with Mexican club Cruz Azul, both clubs announced on Saturday.
The 24-year-old passed his medical and will join up with his new club for the Liga MX Clausura in January.
The Argentine winger only moved to Europe in January, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract with Sevilla, but made only four appearances in La Liga last season.
Montoya failed to break into the team under his countrymen Jorge Sampaoli and Eduardo Berizzo and will play no part for new boss Vincenzo Montella.
He has not played at all since making one substitute appearance in September and playing in both legs of Sevilla's Champions League playoff round win over Istanbul Basaksehir.
