Orlando Pirates have sent defender Ayanda Gcaba on loan to struggling Platinum Stars, the Premier Soccer League side confirmed on Monday.
Just hours after the arrival of midfielder Xola Mlambo from Bidvest Wits, Pirates have now lightened their squad with the exit of Gcaba for the rest of the season.
"Orlando Pirates Football Club has reached an agreement with Platinum Stars over the services of defender Ayanda Gcaba," the club confirmed on their website. "The defender moves to Dikwena on loan for the remainder of the season."
Gcaba joined Pirates in 2012 from Free State Stars, and was largely a regular, either in the left-back or centre-back positions.
However, he has failed to feature in a single game this season under coach Micho Sredojevic and has been given the chance to resurrect his career elsewhere.
Stars are in desperate need of re-enforcements as they sit rock-bottom of the PSL with only 15 points from their 19 matches, and defeats in all of their previous four matches.
Gcaba will be reunited with Stars coach Roger de Sa, with the pair together previously at Pirates.
