Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso will miss much of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a 3-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Tolisso, a World Cup winner with France, also tore the meniscus in the knee after he scored the equaliser for Bayern and will undergo surgery on Sunday.

Bayern will also be without defender Rafinha for several weeks after he tore a ligament in his left ankle.

Bayern, top of the Bundesliga after winning their first three games, are already missing winger Kingsley Coman, who was injured at the start of the season.

They will open their Champions League campaign on Wednesday away against Benfica.
