Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel has blasted the level of refereeing in Ligue 1 after seeing a potentially injury-inflicting tackle on one of his players go unpunished for the second consecutive week.
The German saw his team slip to a first defeat of the season in Le Championnat, with Moussa Dembele and Nabil Fekir grabbing the goals either side of halftime but Tuchel was most furious about a late Fekir challenge on debutant Leandro Paredes that only earned the France international a yellow card.
"See -- it is now happening in every match!" Tuchel said. "Thilo [Kehrer] almost had his career ended last time out [at home to Rennes in Ligue 1]. One centimetre differently and it is over. Here, a little more and Leandro's knee is gone!
"It is incredible, coming from behind like that -- sorry, but I cannot believe it. I do not want to see people writing 'he said' about whether it was or was not a red card. You can write about it, you have seen it and that the same thing happens each match."
Tuchel went on to insist that he and his players are not daunted by the prospect of coming up against Manchester United in the Champions League and that Neymar was missed.
"I expected this sort of complicated encounter," Tuchel said. "Lyon possess plenty of quality. The first half was complicated, and we lost the ball many times. In the second half, we coped well, and I was satisfied.
"These results happen in football -- I am not worried about Manchester United. I saw things that I want to improve. I liked our second half. We missed Neymar, but we still had chances -- we were not decisive enough."
Kylian Mbappe did not find the back of the net and struggled without injured teammate Neymar alongside him in attack.
"It is always a setback when you lose," Mbappe said. "There is no need to worry, though. We just have to keep our heads up and get back to winning ways as we have some big games coming up in Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Champions League in Manchester.
"It is completely normal that we are not as good without Neymar. He was not there last year either, so we need to improve quickly, show that we have learned from last season and progressed. I do not think that we will play better without him, but we must show that we can take care of his absence."
Captain Thiago Silva also admitted that Neymar is missed but felt that he and his teammates can pull together to overcome his absence and win at Old Trafford.
"This can serve us well ahead of United," Silva said. "They are in good form. We must concentrate and work a bit.
"Kylian is a great player, but he cannot handle all of the responsibility in Neymar's absence. We have other players who can make a difference. Everyone needs to be at their best, especially in the Champions League. At 70 percent is not enough."
Next up for PSG is a return to Lyon to face Villefranche-Beaujolais in the Coupe de France this midweek.
