MANCHESTER, England -- Marcos Rojo made his case to start Manchester United's next Premier League game with a run out for the under-23s against West Brom on Friday night.
In front of a watching Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Argentina international played 45 minutes of the Premier League 2 Division 2 clash at Old Trafford at left-back.
Solskjaer will be without both Luke Shaw and Ashley Young for the league game against West Ham on April 13 while the pair serve suspensions.
Rojo, who has played at left-back for the first team before, has not made a senior appearance since the 2-1 defeat to Valencia in the Champions League in December.
Andreas Pereira also played 45 minutes in the 1-1 draw with West Brom ahead of Barcelona's visit to Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Nishan Burkart gave United the lead after 22 minutes in front of 2,301 supporters at Old Trafford before Wes Hoolahan equalised for the visitors with a chipped penalty on 60 minutes.
The point leaves Ricky Sbragia's side sixth in Premier League 2 Division 2 with four games remaining.
