Premier League side Tottenham have moved swiftly to snap up a replacement for the injured Harry Kane by securing the services of AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek in a £28m deal, according to the Sun.

Spurs had been left short on firepower following nasty injuries to England's Kane and Lucas Moura that will keep the pair out until at least April, while Piatek has fallen down the pecking order at the San Siro following the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Jose Mourinho's side have beaten off competition from fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa, Newcastle and Crystal Palace for the Polish striker, who is expected to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal with the North London club within the next 48 hours

Piatek, 24, has struck four times in Serie A this campaign, following a £30m switch to the Rossoneri from Genoa last year.

22.17 GMT: An update on Bruno Fernandes, as ESPN FC has confirmed that Man United have been offered the chance to sign the Sporting Lisbon and Portugal attacker this month.

The Portuguese side are keen to cash in on the 25-year-old Fernandes to ease their financial difficulties and United, as well as Spurs were closely linked with the Portugal international last summer. Sporting reportedly want around €70 million for the Portuguese, who has 13 goals and 13 assists this season in 24 games.

22.56 GMT: Benfica's Gedson Fernandes appeared set to move to West Ham but hold the phone for one minute...

Despite West Ham reportedly agreeing to a deal in principle for Fernandes on Thursday, Tottenham are still in for the Portugal international. Sky understands that Spurs are still hoping to hijack West Ham's deal for the midfielder and have made an 18-month loan offer for the 21-year-old.

West Ham's offer is reportedly an 18-month loan deal with an obligation to buy at £33 million, while Chelsea have made the same loan deal but have added a bigger obligation to buy fee (£55m) but also stricter games played terms in the contract.

With the three clubs vying for Fernandes all based in London, the winger at least has the comfort of knowing where to book his flight to...

22.20 GMT: With Vill set to sign Pepe Reina to solve their goalkeeping void, the club have yet to address the striker position, following summer signing Wesley's season-ending injury.

With reported targets looking like they are headed elsewhere Krzysztof Piątek (Tottenham) and Olivier Giroud (Inter) specifically, Aston Villa have added Dwight Gayle to their list, according to The Times. Gayle, who scored 24 times last season while on loan at West Brom in the English Championship, is back in the Premier League with Newcastle this season but has yet to score.

According to reports, Newcastle would be willing to let Gayle leave on loan in January but any such deal would likely contain an obligation to buy clause. With Villa's options drying out, and pressure mounting, don't be surprised if it is Gayle that the Birmingham side turns to lead the line.

21.51 GMT: Arsenal could lose Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this January and thus are praying to line up a striker to replace the Gabon international.

One name who continues to be mentioned is veteran PSG hitman Edinson Cavani. The 32-year-old has been replaced in Paris by loanee Mauro Icardi and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, could be set for a January exit. According to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito, via The Daily Mail, both the Gunners -- and Man United -- have submitted offers for the Uruguayan known as "El Matador".

Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan have also been linked with the prolific Cavani, who has scored over 300 career club goals and averaged 0.62 goals per game since arriving in Europe with Palermo in 2008.

21.19 GMT: It is no secret that Aston Villa need a goalkeeper following Tom Heaton's injury. They now have a new one, Sky Sports News has confirmed.

Ex-Livepool No. 1 Pepe Reina has agreed to join the Villains on loan and will reportedly arrive in Birmingham on Monday for a medical. The 37-year-old, who has backed up Gianluigi Donnarumma at Milan the past two seasons.

The three-time Premier League Golden Gloves winner has won a World Cup and two European Championships with Spain and is an experienced pair of hands for a club that could be in some relegation trouble.

20.58 GMT: Man Uniteds have been mentioned with seemingly every decent player in Europe regarding this winter's transfer window.

The latest name? Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.

Speaking on The Transfer Show, Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol said: "Manchester are interested in signing him (Jimenez) but it would be a very difficult deal to do because he has been playing so well at Wolves since he moved there.

"He has been identified by Manchester United as a player they are interested in. I find it difficult to believe Wolves would sell him, especially in January."

The 28-year-old Mexican has scored 17 goals and added nine assists this in 33 games this season for Wolves, and scored a key goal as Wolves eliminated United from the FA Cup in 2018-19.

20.24 GMT: AC Milan have been busy this month -- having brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and in the process of loaning out Fabio Borini.

Now, Milan, who's defence has been woeful this season, are being linked with Sevilla centre-back Simon Kjaer. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Milan are set to offload Mattia Caldara to Atlanta, opening the door for Kjaer, who is on loan at Atalanta, to join Milan.

The Danish international, 30, has played for Midtjylland, Palermo, Wolfsburg, Roma, Lille, Fenerbahce and Sevilla during his career, and is looking for a loan move where he would receive more playing time (six appearances for Atalanta.

Kjaer, who has 97 caps for Denmark, has been a reliable defender his entire career and would provide cover for Milan behind starters Alessio Romagnoli and Mateo Musacchio. Liverpool's Dejan Lovren and Chelsea's Andreas Christensen are two other centre-backs who have been linked with Milan this window.

20.01 GMT: Flamengo were extra time away from being crowned club world champions this past season but the Brazilian outfit is not resting on its laurels.

The Copa Libertadores and Brazilian league champions are set to announce the signing of winger Michael from Goias Esporte Club. Globo Esporte are reporting that the sale has already been completed and will cost Flamengo €7.5 for 80 percent of the player's economic rights.

Michael, 23, has bee Goias main creator the past two seasons, compiling 16 goals and 13 assists between Serie B and Serie A.

19.19 GMT: Italian outlet CalcioMercato writes that Man City are after highly-rated French midfielder Houssem Aouar.

The report says that Man City are "in pole position for the player" but face competition for the 21-year-old Lyon ace. The all-around midfielder, who has often been linked with Liverpool, has five goals and five assists this season and tallied seven goals and 11 helpers last campaign.

Lyon are reportedly set to start the bidding at €45 million but his 'price tag is set to rise further."

18.53 GMT: Expansion side Nashville SC are looking to make a splash in their debut season in MLS but they've reportedly come up empty in their pursuit of a Liga MX forward.

MLSsoccer.com has learned that Nashville has had a $9-11 million bid rejected by Peruvian USM Porres for striker Ake Loba. The Ivorian, 21, scored 11 goals last while on loan last year at Queretaro and is expected to sign with Liga MX champions Monterrey.

Nashville view the deal as dead and will move on to alternative targets.

18.25 GMT: How bout a few bits from MLS?

Sources tell ESPN's Taylor Twellman that the Philadelphia Union are on the verge of signing midfielder Jamiro Monteiro for a potential club record fee of up to $2 million.

The Cape Verde international spent last season with the Union on loan from Metz, and was a central figure for the club scoring four goals and providing nine assists. The box-to-box midfielder, 26, was born in the Netherlands and is perfectly suited to Philly's high-pressing style of play.

17.57 GMT: Championship leaders Leeds recently returned striker Eddie Nketiah to Arsenal, so the Whites are expected to add a forward in the current window.

A report in the Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that Southampton flop Che Adams remains an option for the club. Adams, who scored 22 goals last season in the Championship, has yet to get off the schneid for Saints following his £15 million summer move.

A proven goalscorer in the second tier and a player built to play out wide, Adams would seem to perfectly compliment Leeds frontman Patrick Bamford, who has been in good form this campaign.

17.22 GMT: Sporting Lisbon attacker Bruno Fernandes didn't get his desired move to England over the summer but January could different.

Record claims that Sporting and Manchester United are currently in negotiations for Fernandes' transfer to Old Trafford. The report goes as far as to say that Frederico Varandas and Hugo Viana, Sporting's president and sporting director, are currently in England working on the deal.

Sporting are asking for €70 million for the Portuguese international, who was also closely linked with Tottenham this past summer.

16.45 GMT: Chelsea manager Frank Lampard spent much of his news conference today addressing rumours about who may or may not be leaving his team rather than his team's game against Burnley tomorrow.

On Olivier Giroud, who has agreed personal terms with Inter Milan according to ESPN sources, Lampard said that the player could leave if it suited all the parties involved.

"With Oli the situation is if it's right for everybody -- and first and foremost that's the club because he's under contract -- then we'll look at whether he can leave," Lampard said.

"Everyone's talking about it so I'm not going to beat around the bush; I think his agent has spoken to the club. But until we decide it's the right thing then it's not done."

Lampard also dampened rumours that Andreas Christensen was heading out the door after reports linked him with AC Milan. When asked by reporter Nizaar Kinsella if he could rule out selling the player in January, Lampard responded with a straight "yes".

16.24 GMT: It's been a busy day for Arsenal's transfer team. The club have confirmed that midfielder Emile Smith Rowe is leaving the club to join Huddersfield Town on loan for the rest of the season.

Smith Rowe, 19, has made 15 appearances for Arsenal in the Europa League, Premier League and cup competitions.

The U20 England international also spent time at RB Leipzig at the start of last year.

"Emile will give us the creative link that we've been missing," said Huddersfield Town manager Danny Cowley in a statement. "He can play in a range of attacking positions and he can speed up our play. We're really looking forward to working with him."

16.13 GMT: Arsenal forward Tyreece John-Jules has joined League One side Lincoln City on loan for the rest of the season, the club confirmed on Friday.

The 18-year-old has been part of the Arsenal youth set-up for the last decade.

John-Jules scored 16 goals last season and made 30 appearances for the youth team. This season, he's scored eight goals across all competitions.

He made his first-team debut in a friendly against Al-Nasr in Dubai during a mid-season visit last year. Since then, he's been named in the first-team squad twice.

15.54 GMT: ESPN AM are reporting that Chicharito Hernandez confirmed to Sergio Dipp on Friday that LA Galaxy are interested in him and that he is listening to their offer.

Hernandez told Dipp that his main interest is to have playing time. A separate source has told ESPN that the two sides are close to a deal.

Hernandez's team has plans to meet with Sevilla leadership to determine whether the Mexico international will be guaranteed more playing time in the near future. If so, that would cinch a decision to remain at Sevilla and if not, he would listen more closely to Galaxy offer.

Manu Martin reported Wednesday on SportsCenter Mexico that representatives with LA Galaxy were headed to Sevilla to meet with the Mexico international about him potentially replacing Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the Los Angeles club's talisman.

The 31-year-old only joined La Liga side Sevilla from West Ham in the summer after signing a three-year deal and is not ready to leave yet despite having only played 782 minutes in all competitions.

Chicharito's situation under Julen Lopetegui is unlikely to change, with Sevilla looking to bolster their attacking line further during the January transfer window, but sources close to the player have told ESPN that the striker is still not yet considering a move away.

15.31 GMT: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said Leroy Sane's future is out of his hands as Bayern Munich continue their pursuit of the winger.

"It's a question for Leroy, his agents and the club, I'm not involved in that," Guardiola told a news conference on Friday.

Sane has just 18 months left on his contract. While he has been on Bayern's radar since the summer, the German club have indicated that they will wait until the end of the season to make a move.

"He knows what we think of him, that we believe in him and after that it depends on him and the club," Guardiola said.

15.06 GMT: Leicester City are in talks with Barcelona regarding a move for right-back Moussa Wague this month, according to the Italian journalist Nicolo Schira.

The Premier League side are hopeful of bringing Wague in on loan initially, with an option to make any deal permanent in the summer.

Wague, 21, was promoted to Barca's first team from the B team last summer but has failed to break into Ernesto Valverde's side.

Both Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo are ahead of him in the pecking order and, having made just three appearances this season, the Senegal international may be forced to look for regular football away from Camp Nou.

14.37 GMT: The Mirror reports that Tottenham are keen on signing Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo, but sources at the Catalan club have told ESPN they have not received an approach for the Portugal international yet.

Semedo, 26, was an unused substitute as Barca crashed out of the revamped Spanish Supercopa to Atletico Madrid on Thursday. He's failed to win a regular spot in Ernesto Valverde's side since joining from Benfica for €30 million in 2017, with converted midfielder Sergi Roberto often preferred ahead of him.

Barca fought hard to keep Semedo last summer but sources say they are now more open to selling. However, they would be looking to at least make their money back and would prefer to sell at the end of the season rather than January, unless the bid was too good to turn down.

Real Betis' Emerson, who they co-own and could buy relatively cheap, would represent a ready-made replacement if Semedo did leave.

14.10 GMT: Bayern Munich will not make a move for Leroy Sane during the January transfer period, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has said.

"It's not an issue," he told reporters in Bayern's training camp in Qatar.

However, Bayern Munich continue to be in the market for two players to reinforce the Bundesliga title contenders this winter.

Coach Hansi Flick addressed the need for more options earlier this week, and while telling the club's interim boss to not make any public comments, Salihamidzic said "we are looking for a right-back and a winger."

"I want to help the coach. We are looking into options, but it's difficult to reinforce our squad," he said.

13.46 GMT: Barcelona are sounding out club legend Xavi Hernandez as a possible replacement for Ernesto Valverde, sources have told ESPN.

Valverde is expected to move on this summer and in preparation sporting director Eric Abidal and CEO Oscar Grau met with Xavi on Friday in Qatar.

The meeting happened the day after Abidal and Grau watched Barcelona be knocked out of the Spanish Supercopa to Atletico Madrid in Saudi Arabia.

Sources close to the club insist that the timing was a coincidence but confirmed that Xavi is a "serious option" to take over at the Camp Nou.

13.11 GMT: Crystal Palace have signed Turkey international Cenk Tosun from Everton on loan until the end of the season.

The striker has scored 118 goals over a 10-year career. He was Turkey's top scorer during the country's qualification for Euro 2020.

"We've enjoyed a great first half of the campaign and Cenk's arrival will bolster our squad as we push for a top-half Premier League finish," Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish said in a statement.

"Cenk has a proven record as a goalscorer and we've admired him for some time, so I'm very pleased to welcome him to Crystal Palace."

13.04 GMT: Striker Olivier Giroud has agreed terms with Inter Milan but Chelsea and Inter have yet to make any agreements, sources close to the player have told ESPN.

The Chelsea striker's contract expires in the summer and the London club are said to want between €8m and €10m for the player. Inter, on the other hand, are keen to not spend more than €5m on the player.

Inter manager Antonio Conte wants to bolster his attack after losing Alexis Sanchez to a long-term injury. The Serie A title race is set to be tight with Inter and Juventus on equal points at the top of the table after 18 games.

12.39 GMT: Everton striker Cenk Tosun is currently undergoing a medical at Crystal Palace, according to Sky Sports.

Tosun joined Everton in 2018 but has failed to make an impact at Goodison Park. He has scored just once in eight appearances across all competitions this season.

The 28-year-old is said to be looking for more game time to enhance his chances of featuring for Turkey at Euro 2020.

12.07 GMT: AC Milan winger Fabio Borini has arrvived at Hellas Verona for a medical.

The 28-year-old was reportedly keen to get more game time, having not featured as much as he wanted this season at Milan.

The former Liverpool player joined AC Milan on loan from Sunderland in 2017. He moved to the Italian club permanently the following year.

11.31 GMT: Midfielder Ondrej Duda, 25, is set to leave Hertha Berlin and join Norwich City on a loan until the end of the season.

The deal reportedly does not include a buy option. The Slovakia international had been one of the top players at Hertha under coach Pal Dardai last season, but fell down down the pecking order this term, first under Ante Covic and then under Jurgen Klinsmann.

The former United States boss had little use for the midfielder, who made no secret of his desire to seek a new challenge this winter.

10.59 GMT: Alexander Nubel's free transfer to Bayern Munich is causing more disruptions at the Allianz Arena than expected.

The FC Schalke 04 keeper has signed a pre-contract with the Bundesliga record champions and will make the move down south in the summer.

At the Allianz Arena, Nubel, 23, will meet current Germany and Bayern captain Manuel Neuer, 33, and the transfer has led to Neuer defending his position between the Bayern sticks, saying he will not pass on any game time to his new back up without a fight.

However, Sport 1 has now reported that Bayern have guaranteed Nubel in writing a certain number of games for Bayern Munich. And when confronted with the rumour, the German champions have refused to comment on contract details.

10.28 GMT: Chelsea have been monitoring Lyon striker Moussa Dembele as a possible target to improve Frank Lampard's attacking options.

They may have competition, though, as Calcio Mercato are reporting that Juventus have joined the race for the 23-year-old.

Juventus are in a title race with Serie A rivals Inter Milan with the teams only separated on goal difference at the top of the table.

Dembele has scored 11 goals in 26 games in all competitions for Lyon.

09.52 GMT: Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Patrick Cutrone has arrived at Fiorentina for a medical.

Cutrone, who has one cap for Italy, has spent just five months at the Molineux after joining Wolves from Milan for £16.2m.

The striker has made 12 Premier League appearances and scored two goals. He had more success in the Europa League and Carabao Cup teams but failed to break into the Premier League first team.
