TOP STORY: Neves won't deny Barcelona interest
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves has refused to play down rumours of a potential move to Barcelona amid repeated links to the Catalan side.
Speaking to Canal 11, the Portugal international said: "Who wouldn't want to play at Barcelona? I think that's a question any footballer would ask himself."
Neves has long been on Xavi Hernandez's wishlist, with sources telling ESPN that both he and Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi are being eyed by the Camp Nou club.
With veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets looking increasingly likely to leave the Spanish giants in the summer, Barcelona have been quick to identify possible replacements. Frenkie de Jong has slotted in for Busquets, but ESPN sources say the Netherlands international is not thought of as a long-term option amid interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Neves, 25, has been a mainstay for Wolves in the Premier League, and is also noted for his tendency for a spectacular long-range strike.
Zubimendi, 23, recently signed a new deal at La Real that is designed to keep him at the club until 2027, but this is unlikely to deter Barcelona from making a move. Zubimendi has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in LaLiga, though has a reported €60 million release clause in his contract.

19.06 BST: Manchester United are monitoring several right-backs ahead of a potential move, and one player they have their eye on is Jeremie Frimpong Of Bayer Leverkusen, Sky Sport Deutschland reports. The 21-year-old Netherlands youth international and Manchester City academy graduate has another three-plus years remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga club, meaning the Red Devils could be forced to pay a steep transfer fee to conclude any deal.
17.19 BST: What's behind the news of Kylian Mbappe feeling betrayed by Paris Saint-Germain and wanting to leave the French champions in January? According to Le10 Sport, the 23-year-old World Cup winner with France was guaranteed a €150m signing bonus in his new contract, set to be paid in installments, however PSG did not make the first payment on time, and it's unclear whether it's been paid since.
15.31 BST: Manchester United are looking to hire a recruitment analyst to help the club to sign the world's best goalkeepers. The role is part of a planned expansion of the technical chief scout team at Old Trafford and will focus on finding goalkeepers to be part of the first-team squad.
David de Gea is United's No. 1, although manager Ten Hag said the club will wait before deciding whether to extend the 31-year-old's contract. The Spain international has a deal until the end of the season, although United also have an option to extend it until the summer of 2024.
The job advert for United's new role says the club are looking for a candidate "to contribute to the continued expansion and development of the technical chief scout team at Manchester United Football Club, with the specific purpose of identifying players who demonstrate the potential to play for the first team" and "to analyse the playing performance of potential scouting targets with a specific emphasis on goalkeepers."
14.30 BST: Football Insider reports that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko.
Moukoko turns 18 next month, meaning he will be eligible to move to a club in the Premier League -- and Jurgen Klopp is eager to take him to Anfield.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked.
13.26 BST: Manchester United have received no interest in Cristiano Ronaldo despite making him available on a free transfer since the summer, sources have told ESPN's Mark Ogden.
Ronaldo will miss Saturday's Premier League game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after being dropped by manager Erik ten Hag as punishment for refusing to play as a substitute in Wednesday's 2-0 win against Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Sources have told ESPN that the United hierarchy, led by American owners the Glazer family, have been willing to offload Ronaldo since he made it clear that he wanted to leave the club in the summer.
12.20 BST: Pep Guardiola says he was not surprised to see Jurgen Klopp's comments about Manchester City's transfer spending in the build-up to their defeat at Anfield.
Klopp said before Liverpool's 1-0 win that his team could not compete with the financial might of state-owned clubs including City, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Sources have told ESPN that City were unhappy with the German's comments but speaking at a news conference on Friday, Guardiola said they did not come as a surprise.
"Firstly, it's not a surprise because it is not the first time he has said it," Guardiola said. "I said it's not the first time he said that in the last five or six years, so [my focus is on] Brighton. It is what it is."
11.25 BST: Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are ready to lead the race for Frenkie de Jong should the midfielder choose to quit Barcelona in January, sources have told ESPN's James Olley and Rob Dawson.
Chelsea are thought to have received encouragement that De Jong may reconsider his future after deciding not to leave Camp Nou in the summer, despite Barca's willingness to let the player leave.
United made the running for months and eventually agreed a deal worth an initial €65m, rising to around €85m including add-ons, before Chelsea made contact late in the window as De Jong stalled over a move to Old Trafford. However, the Netherlands international opted to stay in Spain despite huge pressure from Barcelona to force him out, as they sought to balance the books and comply with LaLiga's salary cap.
10.28 BST: Erling Haaland's agent has claimed the Manchester City striker could become the world's first £1 billion player.
Haaland has made a fine start to his City career since signing from Borussia Dortmund for his release clause, which sources told ESPN was worth €60 million.
The 22-year-old has scored 20 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for City this campaign, which has led his representative Rafaela Pimenta to say he could break the £1bn barrier for a signing.
"If you put together his football value, his image value, his sponsor value, it is for sure £1bn," Pimenta said in an interview with Sky Sports. "It's normal to compare Erling with [Kylian] Mbappe, so you have a little bit of an idea of the market -- I think Erling would be the first player to achieve a transfer that would be around £1bn."
09.30 BST: The Evening Standard reports that Arsenal are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.
Ndicka, 23, is out of contract at the end of the season and could be available for a cut-price transfer fee in January if his Bundesliga club cannot persuade him to sign an extension.

- Inter Milan are searching for potential replacement should Milan Skriniar leave the Italian club, according to Le10Sport. With Skriniar's contract expiring in June 2023 and strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Inter's options include Sevilla's Tanguy Nianzou and Valencia's Mouctar Diakhaby.
- Gabriel Magalhaes' new deal at Arsenal means that Juventus will have to look elsewhere for a new central defender, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Brazilian signed a new contract with the Gunners that runs through 2027 on Friday.
- Bayern Munich are eager to sign Marcus Thuram from German rivals Borussia Monchengladbach, according to journalist Ekrem Konur. Thuram, 25, is out of contract in the summer and has been in sparkling form for Monchengladbach, netting eight goals in 10 games. Since the departure of Robert Lewandowski, Bayern have been linked to an array of strikers, with Thuram seemingly seen as a suitable replacement.
- Juventus, PSG and Barcelona are set to battle it out for the signature of Jorginho, according to Calciomercato. The 30-year-old Italy midfielder's deal at Chelsea runs out in June.
- Caden Clark has said goodbye to New York Red Bulls after the team's MLS Cup playoff exit. The 19-year-old United States youngster was on loan at RBNY (where he started his career) from RB Leipzig, with whom he signed with in 2021. Although he bid farewell to the MLS side on Instagram, it is not yet known whether he'll return to Leipzig or be loaned elsewhere.
