Tennis legend Billie Jean King, WNBA star Candace Parker and gold-medalist skier Lindsey Vonn are among a high-profile list of new investors to join expansion NWSL side Angel City FC, the club announced on Wednesday.
The NWSL's newest team is still more than a year from putting any players on the field, but club's star-studded roster of investors continues to grow.

The league officially accepted the Los Angeles-based team -- which will begin play in 2022 -- as a member on Wednesday.
In confirming that it will go by the name Angel City Football Club, the new team also announced additional big-name investors from across Hollywood and the sports world.
Among them are King and her partner Ilana Kloss, Parker, Vonn, NHL player PK Subban and NFL player Ryan Kalil.
"We need everyone to invest in women's sports and Ilana and I are proud to stand with the Angel City FC ownership group and help make new history in Southern California sports," King said in a statement.
"Angel City's mission to make an impact on and off the field, and to provide an opportunity to some of the best professional female athletes in the world to play on a stage as powerful as Los Angeles, sends a strong message to young girls in the community and beyond."
As was the case for Serena Williams, who was announced as an investor in July, Parker is joined as an announced investor by her daughter Lailaa.
Other sports stars who were part of the initial launch are around a dozen former U.S. women's national team players, including Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm and Lauren Holiday.
With Natalie Portman as one of the club's founders, the ranks of Hollywood and entertainment world investors also grew this week with the addition of Sophia Bush, James Corden and Becky G. They join previously announced investors such as Uzo Aduba, Jessica Chastain, America Ferrera, Jennifer Garner and Eva Longoria.
Angel City FC is expected to be the NWSL's 11th team when it takes the field in 2022, following Racing Louisville's addition as an expansion team in 2021.
