Baltimore -- The Baltimore Nike Football Training Camp was a star-studded stop on the tour with 12 ESPN 150 recruits in attendance and 11 players getting invites to The Opening. While there were a number of top performances throughout the camp, only 24 earned spots on the Baltimore All-Nike Camp team.
Note: Selections are based upon feedback from NFTC position coaches as well as past and projected on-field performance. Athletes are in the Class of 2013 unless otherwise noted.
TOP PERFORMER
DL Kenny Bigelow, 6-3, 297, Eastern Christian Academy (Elkton, Md.)
The No. 10 recruit in the ESPN 150 was the MVP of what was the deepest group of the camp. Bigelow has the ability to beat any blocker with an array of moves, which he showcased throughout the day with strength, a quick first step and nearly flawless technique. What was most impressive was his desire to compete and show onlookers he could not be stopped.
TOP UNDERCLASSMAN
DL Da'Shawn Hand ('14), 6-3.5, 238, Woodbridge (Va.)
There is early talk that Hand could be the best player in the country for 2014. He has the tools to play anywhere on the line and made it look easy. He was outstanding with his hands and ability to get his hips turned while rushing. Had a dominating sophomore year with 21 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. Already has more than 20 offers and the list will just continue to grow.
OFFENSE
QB: Shane Cockerille, 6-2, 207, Gilman (Baltimore, Md.)
Breakdown: A Maryland commit, Cockerille had an MVP performance, showcasing accuracy and solid fundamentals.
RB: Derrick Green, 5-11, 235, Hermitage (Richmond, Va.)
Breakdown: Known to be a power-type back, Green showed that he is quicker than you would think and is very good in the open field.
RB: Taquan Mizzell, 5-10, 184, Bayside (Virginia Beach, Va.)
Breakdown: An extremely shifty back that can get to full speed in just a few steps and was great running routes and catching out the backfield.
RB: David Williams, 6-0, 191, Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia)
Breakdown: Williams was great in space, utilizing a variety of moves to make defenders miss. Many big-time BCS schools are pursuing the speedy back.
WR: William Fuller, 6-0, 162, Roman Catholic (Philadelphia, Pa.)
Breakdown: A great route runner with exceptional hands, Fuller also has great speed as evidenced by a 4.53 40 at this years Nike Combine in Philadelphia.
WR: David Coggins, 5-10.5, 182, Sacred Heart (Waterbury, Conn.)
Breakdown: Boston College is the only school to offer Coggins, who missed his entire junior year with a broken foot. Started off a little slow but stepped up big during one-on-ones on way to being named MVP.
WR: Demetrius Johnson ('14), 6-1.5, 200, Annapolis Christian (Annapolis, Md.)
Breakdown: Johnson is well put together and moves very well in and out of breaks. Was very good with ability to locate the ball on deeper passes and catches everything in his radar.
OL: Khaliel Rodgers, 6-2, 323, Eastern Christian Academy (Elkton, Md.)
Breakdown: Stout frame and quick feet make him an interior force. Will only get better and quicker with some work firming up a bit.
OL: Jaryd Jones-Smith, 6-6, 313, West Catholic (Philadelphia)
Breakdown: Extremely raw, but has the potential that will be of interest to many FBS suitors. Massive, long-limbed frame coupled with above-average overall athleticism give him a solid foundation to develop upon.
OL: Na'Ty Rodgers, 6-4, 285, McDonough (Pomfret, Md.)
Breakdown: Easy to see why over 20 schools have offered the fleet footed Rodgers. Showcased great technique and understanding of what it takes to be an elite tackle.
ATH: Myles Nash, 6-4, 191, Timber Creek (Sicklerville, N.J.)
Breakdown: Nash worked out with the quarterbacks and looked good in doing so but future is on the defensive side of the ball. Is versatile enough to fit in any system as a rush end or outside backer.
DEFENSE
DL: Andrew Brown ('14), 6-3, 280, Indian River (Chesapeake, Va.)
Breakdown: Considered one of the best prospects for next year's class, Brown was nearly unstoppable coming off the edge. Moves extremely well for a player of his size.
DL: Marvin Gross, 6-2, 187, Dunbar (Baltimore)
Breakdown: Speedy edge rusher who is deceptively powerful for his size.
DL: Eric Wiafe, 6-5, 261, Egg Harbor Township (N.J.)
Breakdown: Started off slow but stepped his game up at the right time. Played all three d-line positions effectively. One of the camps pleasant surprises and deserves some more attention.
LB: Holland Fisher, 6-1, 196, Manchester (Midlothian, Va.)
Breakdown: Earned linebacker MVP honors after putting on a show during one-on-ones, where he intercepted three consecutive passes.
LB: Dorian O'Daniel, 6-1, 201, Good Counsel (Olney, Md.)
Breakdown: Was very good in space with exceptional cover skills. Well built, makes quick decisions and gets there fast.
LB: Doug Randolph, 6-2.5, 221, Woodberry Forest (Va.)
Breakdown: A complete player with massive upside who impressed with his understanding of the position. Has prototypical size and can easily get bigger without losing a step.
LB: Alex Anzalone, 6-2.5, 231, Wyomissing (Pa.)
Breakdown: A hard-nosed and fleet-footed player, Anzalone is very agile for his size. Was very coachable and just continued to get better as camp went along.
DB: Tre' Bell, 5-10.5, 158, St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.)
Breakdown: A well-balanced player with great instincts and awareness on the field. A gambler who is not afraid to take risk and is right more times than not.
DB: Kendall Fuller, 5-11, 185, Good Counsel (Olney, Md.)
Breakdown: The No. 27 recruit in the ESPN 150 did everything to justify his lofty ranking. There's not much Fuller can't do as a pass defender.
DB: Quin Blanding ('14), 6-2, 196, Bayside (Virginia Beach, Va.)
Breakdown: Schools are already knocking down the doors with offers for Blanding. From the very beginning, it was easy to see this is a very gifted player.
DB: Eli Woodard, 6-0, 185, Eastern (Voorhees, N.J.)
Breakdown: Showed a burning desire to compete and get better from the opening whistle. Is a very physical defender who shines in press coverage.
