The Texas Rangers placed first baseman Ronald Guzman on the 7-day disabled list Tuesday with a concussion.
Guzman left in the sixth inning of the Rangers' game against the San Diego Padres Monday night after his head struck the knee of third baseman Christian Villanueva when he was diving back on an attempted pick-off.
``It was very evident when we got out there, just his words, kind of the symptoms that he gave us,'' Rangers manager Jeff Banister said.
Guzman is batting .227 with 30 RBIs and seven home runs.
First baseman/outfielder Ryan Rua was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take Guzman's place on the roster.
