The Oakland Athletics activated left-hander Scott Alexander from the injured list Tuesday and optioned right-hander Tyler Ferguson to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Alexander, 34, opened the season on the 15-day IL with a left rib contusion and began a minor league rehab assignment May 3.
Entering his first season with the A's, Alexander is 19-12 with a 3.29 ERA in 283 appearances (13 starts) over nine seasons with the Kansas City Royals (2015-17), Los Angeles Dodgers (2018-21) and San Francisco Giants (2022-23).
Ferguson, 30, made his major league debut May 7 and had a 5.68 ERA in six relief appearances.
