Oft-injured Chicago White Sox designated hitter Eloy Jimenez was activated from the 10-day injured list and placed in the starting lineup Sunday against the Detroit Tigers.
Jimenez is batting third against the Tigers.
In a corresponding move, the White Sox optioned outfielder Oscar Colas to Triple-A Charlotte.
Jimenez, 27, sustained a hamstring injury while running the bases May 21 and missed 29 games. In April, he was out for 12 games with an adductor strain.
He is hitting .231 with five homers and 12 RBIs in 36 games this season.
In parts of six seasons with the White Sox, Jimenez has hit .271 with 94 homers and 287 RBIs in 472 games. He achieved career highs in homers (31) and RBIs (79) in his rookie year in 2019, when he played in a career-best 122 games.
Colas, 25, has played in 13 games this season and is hitting .273 with four RBIs. He made his major league debut last season with the White Sox, hitting .216 with five homers and 19 RBIs in 75 games.
