The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has reached a deal with NBC Sports to distribute its upcoming inaugural season, according to promotion officials.
Formerly the WSOF, the PFL announced its new name and ownership in 2017. It was co-founded by Washington, D.C., businessmen Donn Davis, Russ Ramsey and Mark Leschly.
WSOF also aired on NBC Sports, but that deal expired last year. The new contract calls for seven "regular-season" Thursday events between June and August, and Saturday "playoffs" beginning in October.
"We are excited to create a Thursday night destination that will be appointment viewing for MMA fans," said Jon Miller, president of programming at NBC Sports.
"NBCSN, NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app will be home to the PFL's innovative talent, which will keep viewers on the edge of their seats from the first fight June 7 through the championship finals December 31."
The PFL's format will consist of 72 total athletes, divided among six weight classes. It offers a $1 million prize to the eventual 2018 champions.
