Reports: Till fined for hotel damage, taxi theft

Popular UFC welterweight Darren Till has been fined for his part in damaging a hotel and driving off in a taxi on the Canary Islands last week, according to multiple reports.

Till, of Liverpool, was one of five British nationals who were arrested last Thursday and admitted to vandalizing the hotel in Tenerife -- including smashing furniture and deploying fire extinguishers, according to media reports. The group of men then left the hotel and summoned a taxi. As the taxi driver was loading their bags in the trunk, one of the men got behind the wheel and drove off, reports said.

TSN reported Monday that Till, 26, and four others were ordered to pay approximately 10,000 euros to the Costa Adeje hotel, and Till and another person were ordered to pay 480 euros for damage to the hotel and an additional 360 euros for unauthorized use of a taxi.

The UFC has not yet commented on the matter.

Till (17-2-1) has garnered plenty of notoriety since signing with the UFC in 2015. He challenged Tyron Woodley for the welterweight championship at UFC 228 last September, but lost via submission. He suffered a second-round knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal in his most recent fight, at UFC Fight Night on March 16 in London.
