CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls have expressed an interest in free agent guard Eddie House, according to House's agent Mark Bartelstein.
The Bulls also have talked to representatives of Keith Bogans and Roger Mason, according to a person familiar with the situation.
Disgruntled Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Rudy Fernandez could also be in the mix for the Bulls, according to a report in the Oregonian. The Bulls, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics are in the running to acquire the 25-year-old Fernandez, who is unhappy with limited playing time in Portland, according to the report.
The Bulls are one of several teams pursuing House, a veteran guard who would be able to play both backcourt positions and give the Bulls more depth behind Derrick Rose and new acquisition C.J. Watson, whom they acquired from the Golden State Warriors in a sign-and-trade last week. House, 32, spent the past three seasons with the Celtics before being dealt at last year's trade deadline to the Knicks for Nate Robinson.
House is a career 39 percent shooter from behind the arc and would add another veteran presence in the locker room alongside 15-year veteran big man Kurt Thomas whom the Bulls officially signed on Monday. House, who averaged seven points last season, is considering re-signing with the Celtics, among others.
Bogans, a seven-year veteran, started 50 games for the San Antonio Spurs last season, averaging 4.4 points and shooting 35.7 percent from three-point range. Mason, who was a second-round draft pick of the Bulls in 2002, has been a key reserve for the Spurs the past two seasons, averaging a career-high 11.8 points a game in 2008-09 before slumping to 6.3 points last season.
Fernandez has played two seasons with the Trail Blazers after spending seven seasons in the Spanish ACB League. He averaged 8.1 points a game and shot 36.8 percent from three-point range last season.
The Bulls only have 11 players under contract and are looking to fill the final spot on the active roster with a guard after addressing their front-court needs with the Thomas signing. Former All-Star Tracy McGrady was at the Berto Center on Monday afternoon working out for Bulls personnel, but sources tell ESPN's Marc Stein and Chris Broussard that the team is unlikely to sign the veteran because, among other things, he may be hesitant to accept a complimentary role within the framework of the team.
