Just one year after the Suns gave fans the warm fuzzies -- the Morris twins inked team-friendly deals! Jeff Hornacek put together 48 wins! -- they've lost that loving feeling. Marcus Morris was shipped off to Detroit in July (for even more cap space!); his brother, an unhappy Markieff, publicly demanded a trade in turn. And those 48 wins from 2013-14? Nine more than the Suns managed last season. But even that drop-off is tame compared with Phoenix's tumble down our rankings, falling by double digits in ... Every. Single. Category.
What's good
The Suns failed to breach the No. 80 threshold in all but one category in 2015: Congrats, Jeff Hornacek. Yes, a No. 66 rank in coaching represents a 36-spot plunge from last year, but Hornacek is likely still reaping the goodwill engendered from his Coach of the Year runner-up campaign from two seasons back. And his penchant for meshing an analytical approach with an appreciation for old-school habits might have to be what the franchise hangs its hat on for the foreseeable future: Hornacek will be counted on to help the Suns -- down two-thirds of their three-headed point guard from 2014-15 -- overachieve again.
What's bad
About that point guard trio? The Suns traded two on the same day -- sending Goran Dragic to Miami and Isaiah Thomas to Boston -- for picks, spare parts and an eye toward the future. Rebuilding is fine and all, especially when your franchise has missed the playoffs five years running, but that'll wear on fans' patience. Case in point: a dismal No. 104 in title track -- the fourth time in five years the Suns have finished below the century mark in the category.
What's new
An offseason overrun with a pair of brooding brothers -- and their disdain for the fine fans of Phoenix -- may have something to do with the Suns' stunning 71-spot free fall in Players. First, Markieff lamented that "I don't think we have a home-court advantage." Then Marcus piled on, calling Suns fans "bandwagon" on Twitter this summer. Looks like the only warm fuzzies Phoenix residents have coming their way this season could be nostalgia fests on Oct. 30 (honoring newly retired Steve Nash) and March 26 (Legends Night for the 1976 NBA Finals runners-up).
