Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love said Tuesday that he expects to remain out until "sometime after the new year."
Love underwent toe surgery Nov. 2, and the Cavs said at the time that he would be out at least six weeks. Six weeks from the surgery would be Dec. 14.
Love told ESPN's The Jump on Tuesday that his absence likely will extend beyond the six-week mark. He said he'll be "in and out" of a boot for two more weeks.
"There's just no telling at this time with the weight-bearing injury what it is going to be like moving forward, but I expect to be back sometime after the new year," he said.
Love had surgery to rectify a painful big toe injury on his left foot. The injury had bothered him since the preseason opener and affected his ability to walk.
He has played in four games this season, averaging 19 points and 13.5 rebounds. He missed 45 games because of injuries the previous two seasons. The five-time All-Star signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension this summer.
The Cavs are a league-worst 2-13 this season.
