Sources: Minnesota optimistic after Towns' MRI

There is optimism about the results of an MRI on the right knee of Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Wolves said Towns missed Sunday night's 103-92 victory against the visiting New York Knicks as a precaution because of right knee inflammation.

Towns limped off the court during Minnesota's 135-130 overtime victory over the Washington Wizards on Saturday night in Minneapolis with less than 10 seconds to go in the fourth quarter.

The center was escorted to the locker room and did not play in overtime.

Towns finished with 40 points and 16 rebounds in 37 minutes against the Wizards.
