Dwyane Wade, Paul Millsap out

MIAMI -- Dwyane Wade is not playing for the Miami Heat in their game against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night, the second time this season he's been held out for rest purposes.

Wade also missed the second game of the season in Philadelphia. He is not dealing with an injury, but the Heat are being mindful of wear and tear on his knees.

Wade is averaging 16.7 points this season for Miami, though missed six of his seven shots and scored only four points on the second night of a back-to-back at Charlotte on Saturday.

Wade will travel with the Heat to Orlando, where Miami plays on Wednesday night.

Hawks forward Paul Millsap will not play because of tendinitis in his right elbow.

The Hawks announced Millsap's status on their official Twitter account, saying that the forward did not travel to Miami.

The team did not disclose when Millsap is expected to return. The Hawks return to Atlanta on Wednesday to host the Detroit Pistons.

Millsap is averaging 15.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in 10 games this season, his first with the Hawks.

Atlanta could turn to Gustavo Ayon as Millsap's replacement in the starting lineup against the two-time defending champion Heat. The 6-foot-10 Ayon started over Millsap in Atlanta's game last Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 28-year-old Millsap joined the Hawks this past offseason, signing a two-year deal worth $19 million, after spending his first seven seasons with the Utah Jazz.
