After months of waiting Netball Australia and Super Netball finally announced a landmark pay deal and a transfer window ahead preparations for Super Netball 2022. Australia's top netballers can now earn up to 22 per cent more and they remain the highest-paid female domestic club athletes in the country following the new two year deal. The average potential maximum salary of contracted players increases from $75,167 to $91,500, while the average minimum player salary of contracted players will also rise, by 15 per cent, from $64,167 to $74,000. From the 2022 season, the minimum salary of all athletes will grow by 17 per cent, up to $43,000 from $36,667. With the pay deal secure all eight clubs are now open to secure their teams ahead of the 2022 season. The signing period opens from Monday October 13 until October 8, with clubs all clubs requiring to sign 10 players by the end of the period. Players can be signed on one-year or two-year contracts. Clubs had exclusive rights to re-sign their existing 10-player squad from Monday 6th October. Firebirds retain Bueta in bid for finals return  The Queensland Firebirds have locked in Gretel Bueta for a further two Super Netball seasons as they begin their bid for a finals return. Bueta, who is a key member of the Australian Diamonds, returned to the court in 2021 after giving birth to her first child Bobby. The 28-year-old attacker sunk 243 goals, including 23 super shots, this season and Firebirds coach Megan Anderson is confident she can take her game to the next level in 2022. "Grets is an amazing athlete who defied odds to get back on the court in 2021. She is such a ball of energy and always plays with a smile on her face," she said. "Her dominance on court brings the focus away from her teammates and she loves the challenge of beating whatever teams put out against her," she said. "I really think the best is still yet to come with Grets and I'm excited to see where she can take her game in 2022." She joins Kim Ravaillion, Lara Dunkley, Kim Jenner, Gabi Simpson, Romelda Aiken, Ruby Bakewell-Doran and Mia Stower in re-signing with the Firebirds for next season. Lightning foundation member Scherian re-signs Sunshine Coast Lightning midcourter Laura Scherian has re-committed to the club for another year in a quest to win a third title. A Lightning foundation member, Scherian was instrumental in the club's back-to-back championships in their first two years and has played 80 games in the yellow dress. Lightning coach Kylee Byrne said a return to career best form in 2021 will only further motivate the 33-year-old to excel in 2022. "Shez in the type of player that makes netball look easy, but her sheer work rate, pinpoint feeds and the influence she has on games cannot be ignored," Byrne said. "One of Lightning's mottos is above and beyond and that perfectly represents Shez - both in her netball and as a person - and we are very lucky to have her at our club."  Giants retain Parmenter The Giants defensive end is coming together, with Amy Parmenter becoming the sixth player to re-sign with the Giants for a further two seasons. Making her debut in 2019, Parmenter has continued to shine and has missed just two matches since due to injury or illness. Following an impressive debut season, her start has continued to rise and she was named in the Australian Development Squad in 2020 before she was selected in the Australian Diamonds squad for 2021/22 as one of the competition's best wing defender's. The 24-year-old said she is looking forward to returning to Sydney again next year. "I bleed orange," she said. "Each year I feel like we get a little bit better, a little closer to that trophy and 2021 has set us up really well. "As much as the Grand Final experience broke our hearts, it will only do us good and fuel the fire for 2022. "With some new and fresh faces, I'm excited to see how we can continue to grow as a club and challenge each other to become better on and off the court." Duo elevated to Firebirds roster, Singleton for Swifts The Queensland Firebirds have elevated Ruby Bakewell-Doran and Mia Stower to their senior list for 2022. The duo, who are both local products, were training partners with the Firebirds this season - with Bakewell-Doran making her Super Netball debut in round nine. Bakewell-Doran adds versatility to the Firebirds' defensive end as she can play all three positions. Now with her first senior contract signed, the defender is confident she can bring an x-factor to the Firebirds' unit on the regular. "I bring my own skills and flare both on and off the court to this team," she said. "It'll be about owning that and making it fit and thrive in a team setting. "We all bring something really different which is super exciting. Seeing all of that talent come together is pretty amazing." Firebirds coach Megan Anderson is excited to help Stower, who is part of the Australian under-21 squad, further develop as an elite shooter. "She has one of the best netball brains going round and it's lovely to watch her weave her magic out on court," Anderson said. "She's mature and has great leadership potential which will add immensely to our group in 2022." Meanwhile, the NSW Swifts have also elevated a training partner to the senior side for next season, with Kelly Singleton completing their 2022 roster. The 23-year-old attacker has already featured twice for the Swifts after being part of the extended squad for the 2020 Queensland hub. "Kelly has worked diligently on her game and fitness over the past number of years and has really earnt this chance to show what she can do at the top level and we are backing her to shine," Swifts coach Briony Akle said. Champion Vixen signs with Swifts The NSW Swifts' bid to defend their 2021 Super Netball title has been bolstered by the signing of premiership-winning midcourter Allie Smith. The 21-year-old wing-defence debuted for the Melbourne Vixens in 2020 and featured in their Grand Final win over the West Coast Fever.  She has committed to the Swifts on a one-year deal and coach Briony Akle said she's been impressed by her determination on court. "It is very rare that you get the opportunity to sign a player who is not only so young, but who also has a proven ability at this level," she said. "With a much shorter pre-season next year and some changes to our squad we needed to secure a player who can hit the ground running for a title defence. "Allie is a specialist WD who really impressed us when we chatted to her and I think she will be a great fit for the group. She has a wonderful way of harrying opposition attacks and never gives up when chasing possession. "Allie stood out for the Vixens in their premiership campaign last year and backed up again in 2021 in a squad that was rebuilding. The Vixens are a champion outfit so Allie already knows what High-Performance sport is all about and I cannot wait to welcome her into the Swifts environment." Vixens retain star shooter Kumwenda Malawi international Mwai Kumwenda has committed to a sixth season with the Melbourne Vixens, in what is their last re-signing from their 2021 roster. Kumwenda, who was named Player of the Match in the 2020 decider, said she cannot wait to do her best to help the team as they plot their path back to finals. She joins star recruit Kiera Austin and Rahni Samason in the attacking circle for next season. The Vixens now have only one spot left on their roster which will be a new signing, not a retainment. The club will announce that player on Friday. "Playing for the Vixens was always a dream for me, and I am very happy to sign on with the team and continue my netball here," said Kumwenda. "I learn new things every day at the Vixens with Simone as my coach and my sisters like Kate Moloney and Lizzy Watson helping be get better every game. "I love playing for the Vixens. As I am so far away from home, I am so grateful to the players, coaches and staff who are my family away from Malawi. I am so happy to have met so many lovely people and cannot wait to do my best to help the team." Cassidy set for another season with Sunshine Coast Mahalia Cassidy has re-signed with the Sunshine Coast Lightning ahead of the 2022 season, bringing versatility to the club's centre court. It will mark the 26-year-old's second season with the Super Netball club, with the former Queensland Firebird slotting into Kylee Byrne's side this year seamlessly and adding wing defense to her arsenal. She finished the season with 259 feeds, 150 goal assists and 22 gains. "Harls has so much upside and I think we will see her really thrive and mature as a player with another pre-season under her belt with us," Byrne said. "Now that she has a stronger understanding of our Lightning game strategies and our language, I expect to see her really build in confidence and become that strong cog in our midcourt. "What's also important is how well she has gelled with the team off court - Mahalia is such a likable, upbeat personality and her presence in the team is very much welcomed." Thunderbirds sign Sterling, gain rising star Dawn The Adelaide Thunderbirds have confirmed their defensive end ahead of the 2022 season with the re-signing of Shamera Sterling, while they've also bolstered their attack with the signing of Tippah Dwan. Sterling has been an integral part of the squad since she landed in Adelaide three years ago and will continue to lead the defensive end until at least 2023 after signing a two-year deal. She joins fellow Jamaican talent Latanya Wilson and Australian prospect Matilda Garrett. Meanwhile the signing of Dwan is a huge coup for the Thunderbirds after the 21-year-old made a name for herself in 2020 with a breakout season at the Firebirds. Dwan continued to build herself as one of the league's most exciting players and will join another young gun in Georgie Horjus who also made an impression on the season over the last two seasons. After Dwan was selected in the Australian Development Squad - the direct pathway to the Australian Diamonds - last month, Thunderbirds high performance manager Pitre Bourdan was excited to add Dwan to the squad. "Tippah is a very dynamic and agile player who will bring great netball smarts to our attack end," Bourdon said. "We've seen what she's capable of over the past two SSN seasons and we're very excited to welcome her to our club."  Aiken sticks with Firebirds for 15th season One of the biggest stars in Super Netball, Romelda Aiken has re-signed with the Firebirds for a 15th season, raising hopes for the club that has struggled to reach their full potential over the past four seasons. Aiken will become one of the longest serving Firebirds player when she takes to the court in 2022 after the 32-year-old goal-shooter joined the club in 2007 and won three ANZ Championship titles during her time in the purple dress. One of the competitions leading goal-scorers, Aiken is ready to hit the court again in 2022. "For me it is just another year. I love playing and as long as I get opportunities to play, I am forever grateful and proud," Aiken said. "I am just very happy to be offered another year, these girls are passionate and just awesome to work with. "I love how passionate we are as a club, the values we live and breathe are amazing and I love being a Birdie." Eddy sticks with Vixens Premiership winning defender Kate Eddy has locked in with the Vixens for the 2022 season, bolstering the squad as they look to improve on a poor 2021 showing. A Victorian native, Eddy signed as a training partner in 2017 before making the move to the NSW Swifts in 2018 and 2019 where she won a premiership and then made her return to Melbourne in 2020 where she won a second title. The 24-year-old has cemented her spot as the starting wing defender for the Vixens and impressed national selectors after she was named in the Australian Diamonds Development squad this year. "I'm really excited to have signed on with the Vixens again and am grateful for the opportunity the club has given me over the last two years," said Eddy. "I'm very proud to be a part of this club, learning under Simone and playing alongside some of the best netballers in the world. We all want the best for each other and the team so looking ahead to 2022 is really exciting. "This year has been pretty tough for us on and off the court, but as a group, we're taking the experience and learnings into 2022, and I have no doubt you'll see a really determined team with our eye on redeeming ourselves and aiming for the championship." Vixens to lose Smith next season The Melbourne Vixen have been informed of Allie Smith's decision to pursue an opportunity next year. Smith played all 14 games for the Vixens in 2021. Lightning retain their star shooter Sunshine Coast Lightning have retained the services of their vice-captain Steph Wood who will continue to lead their attack end for another season. A foundation member of the club, the 29-year-old has played a large role in developing a winning culture within the club, taking them to back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018 as well as a grand final appearance in 2019. Wood will link with fellow Diamond Cara Koenen in the Lightning's shooting circle in what coach Kylee Byrne believes is a dangerous combination. "Steph is one of a kind, her smarts and knowledge of the game not only impact her own output but also help educate and develop the players around her," Byrne said. "While she's always been the type of person to keep herself and her teammates accountable and lean into those hard but necessary conversations, I've watched her really step up as an official leader this season. "I'll be eagerly watching how Steph and Cara combine on the international stage with Diamond duties and am excited to see the positive flow-on effect to our Lightning pre-season." Giants secure Jo Harten The Giants have been boosted by the re-signing of their captain Jo Harten following news star goal-attack Kiera Austin has been signed by the Melbourne Vixens. A foundation player, Harten joined the club for its inaugural season in Super Netball and has re-committed to the club for another two seasons. The 32-year-old has been an integral player for the Giants, helping lead the team to two grand final appearances and a semi-final appearance and brought up her 150th National League match in the 2021 grand final loss against the Swifts. Committing to her sixth and seventh seasons, Harten said she is looking forward to staying in Sydney for another two years. "I'm incredibly proud to be a foundation player at this club and playing at the club for the past five years has been an absolute honour," Harten said. "2021 was an incredible season in many regards and it has definitely ignited the fire in me to be better next year, growing with the amazing young athletes around me. "I'm very excited to unleash our potential over the next two years." Harten is the fifth player to re-commit to the Giants on a two-year deal, joining young guns Tilly McDonnell and Sophie Dwyer, as well as in-form defender April Brandley and midcourter Jamie-Lee Price.  Vixens land Giant signing in Austin Attacker Kiera Austin will resume her Super Netball career with the Melbourne Vixens as the club continues their build towards a finals return. In one of the biggest moves of the signing period, Austin leaves the Giants after four years with the NSW-based club. She made her debut in 2018 and had a breakout season in 2020, in which she claimed the club's Most Valuable Player and later earned a Diamonds berth. Following a season spent on the sidelines due to an ACL injury, Austin said it was time to take her game to the next level with a new opportunity. "I'm really looking forward to my next chapter with the Vixens and the opportunity that comes with a new club and city," said Austin. "The Vixens have always been a strong team in the competition and with the results of the last couple of years, I know there's something really special coming in 2022, and I'm excited to be a part of that. "I do want to thank the Giants for their support of me over the last four years, particularly this year in my recovery. I have loved every minute of my time there and will be forever grateful for the opportunities the club has given me." Her absence from the court this season gave Sophie Dwyer an opportunity to develop into a starting shooter, with Austin leaving the Giants' circle in capable hands. The Melbourne move sees the Eastwood-Ryde junior link up with Rahni Samason in the attacking circle for 2022. Simpson brings up a decade with Firebirds Veteran Gabi Simpson has re-comitted to the Queensland Firebirds for what will be her 10th season with the Super Netball club. Simpson, who has two ANZ Championship titles to her name, joined the club as a 20-year-old from Sydney in 2013. She has since become a core member of the Australian Diamonds and led the Firebirds as captain for the last five seasons. "Since I first moved up when I was 20, the club has been my home, so now to be signing up for my tenth season here is extremely special," Simpson said. "We've worked really hard this year and done a lot of groundwork to set a foundation that can put out really good performances, and I think what we learnt will be absolutely vital. "And this group, I have never seen a group more driven to get the success that we want for this club." She joins Kim Ravaillion, Lara Dunkley and Kim Jenner in re-signing with the Firebirds for 2022. Wilson extends Thunderbirds stay by two years Jamaican international Latanya Wilson has signed a two-year deal with the Adelaide Thunderbirds after a strong debut Super Netball season. The 20-year-old adds versatility to the Thunderbirds' defensive third, having moved across all three positions this year. Wilson joins fellow defender Matilda Garrett, midcourter Maisie Nankivell and goal attack Georgie Horjus in committing for next season. "We know Latanya has an amazing x-factor about the way she plays and an innate ability to hunt down the ball," Thunderbirds high performance manager Pitre Bourdon said. "She showed great signs in 2021 and we know she'll only continue to grow going forward.: Hinchliffe heads to Queensland state rival Defender Tara Hinchcliffe has defected to state rivals the Sunshine Coast Lightning for the 2022 season, becoming the third player on the two-time Super Netball champion's list. The 23-year-old, who is part of the Diamonds development squad, has spent the last four seasons with the Queensland Firebirds and was co vice-captain in 2021. She was offered a contract to extend her stay with the Firebirds but politely declined. Her twin sister Maddie Hinchcliffe was a training partner with the Lightning this year and was key to the defender's decision to cross over. "I'm really excited for a new challenge, and to immerse myself within the Lightning team and culture," Hinchliffe said. "It was obviously a tough decision, but the opportunity to play with, and learn from, new players with different skills and international experience was hard to turn down. "The unique experience of my first 'major' injury gave me time to reflect on my four years with the Firebirds, and how I could reenergise myself and my netball and chatting to Kylee [Byrne] made me really excited about new possibilities up the Coast. "I've also watched Maddie thrive at Lightning - the way she talks about the culture, the girls, the coaches and performance staff, was a big reason why I chose to sign with this Club." Hinchcliffe is recovering from an ACL rupture which occurred at training in the final week of the Firebirds' campaign. She is expected to make her Super Netball return mid-season. Melbourne's Mundy signs first Super Netball contract  Hannah Mundy has signed her first official Super Netball contract with the Melbourne Vixens, following a standout season that saw her named the club's Rookie of the Year. The Victorian was brought into the side as a temporary replacement player for Liz Watson, who was ruled out for the season due to a foot injury. She went on to play all 14 matches. "This year was a dream come true, and I've been so grateful for the opportunity that the club has given me," said Mundy. "I'm really excited to sign on officially, and to learn from and play alongside some of the best netballers in the world. "Liz (Watson) has been a great mentor for me, particularly this year in her leadership role from the sideline. I'm really looking forward to continuing to learn everything I can off her when she's out on court." Rising stars Fraser and O'Shannassy stay with Swifts Tayla Fraser and Teigan O'Shannassy have signed with the NSW Swifts for the 2022 season, leaving only two spots left on the premiers' roster. Midcourter Fraser, at 22, has already won two Super Netball titles with the Swifts and is excited to launch their defence at home. "Like so many netballers all over NSW I grew up supporting the Swifts so to say I'm happy to re-sign would be an understatement," Fraser said. "Over the past numbers of seasons I have been lucky to take the court with players I grew up admiring and wanting to emulate, so now getting to call them teammates makes me immensely proud. "This past season has been particularly testing with so much time on the road but I feel it's only brought us closer together as a group. Our vision is to keep building and adding to the legacy of the Swifts, which inspires not just us but countless netball fans all over the state. I also can't wait to play more games back Sydney and push for higher honours." O'Shannassy has been elevated to their contract list after being a training partner in 2021. The 22-year-old defer made her debut with the Giants in 2019 but missed the following season due to illness. O'Shannassy said she felt ready for a fresh start. "I've loved being a part of the Swifts environment over the past 12 months and feel I'm in a great place ahead of what's going to be a huge season," she said. "It is a very special club with a proud history and I love how this current group of players have set the standard for the rest of the competition, so getting the opportunity to play regularly with the likes of Sarah Klau and Maddy Turner is very exciting for me." Giants continue re-signing spree with McDonell Giants Netball have retained a fourth athlete from their minor-premiership winning side by the signature of defender Matilda McDonell. McDonell will continue her career at the Giants for at least the next two seasons, keeping on trend with Jamie-Lee Price, April Brandley and Sophie Dwyer. She now has a window of opportunity to slot into the goal-keeper position, which was left vacant by the retirement of Sam Poolman. "I absolutely love this club and truly believe we have something special building here," she said. "We have this incredible environment which focuses on the development of both our youth and experience where we all push to get the best out of each other every session. "There's no doubt in my mind that we can't take that extra step next season and bring home the trophy." Lightning strike Shimmin for 2022 The Sunshine Coast Lightning have locked in all-rounder Kate Shimmin as their second signing for the 2022 season. Shimmin's return comes as a welcome boost for the Lightning's defensive stocks following the loss of retired foundation player Maddy McAuliffe and Phumza Maweni. It'll mark the 29-year-old's second season with the Sunshine Coast, having previously played for the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Queensland Firebirds. "Coming into Lightning with fresh eyes has been such a great learning experience for me and I really want to build on that next season," Shimmin said. "I feel fortunate to play alongside so many great women and I think that immediate belonging makes you want to really play your role for the team and do your best with every opportunity." She won the club's Team Spirit Award for the 2021 season and settled in their circle defence rotation, while also having stints in the defensive midcourt. Nankivell to stay at Thunderbirds in first Monday move On a Monday-signing bonanza, South Australian Maisie Nankivell has re-committed to the Adelaide Thunderbirds for the 2022 season. The return of versatile midcourter is a welcome boost for the Thunderbirds' attack, having led the club for goal assists with 255 and ranking third for deflections with 23 in 2021. She is also a current member of the Australian development squad. "Maisie's preparation and professional approach has allowed her to develop her game even further this season" Thunderbirds high performance manager Pitre Bourdon said. "She shined in her leadership role this season and is a well-respected member of this side. "Her ability to play across all three midcourt positions gives us great flexibility and we're very pleased to have her back in 2022." Firebirds boosted by signing of Dunkley, Jenner The Firebirds have been boosted ahead of the 2022 season with the re-signing of talented duo Lara Dunkley and Kimberley Jenner. The pair provide an explosive package to the club who aim to return to the finals for the first time since the inaugural season of Super Netball. The exciting wing-attack had another stellar season in the purple dress, taking her game to a new level has said she's looking forward to returning to the court. "I am super excited to be back in purple next season. It felt like yesterday since moving to Queensland, and to know I'll continue living in the sunny state is incredible," Dunkley said. "I absolutely love it here and the purple family feels like one of my own. I am really proud and honoured to represent the Firebirds and cannot wait to get stuck into pre-season with the girls and work hard to achieve great things at this club." Jenner, who is currently named in the Australian Diamonds squad, brings strength to the Firebirds defensive end and is confident she can take her game to another level. "This club has a proud history and legacy and we have unfinished business, and I am determined to take it to the next level with these girls in 2022," Jenner said. Koenen first Lightning to re-sign Cara Koenen has become the first signing for the Sunshine Coast Lightning for the 2022 season, signing a one-year deal for a sixth contract. A foundation player, Koenen has cemented herself as a world-class shooter, earning herself a call up to the Australian Diamonds, while she received both the Players' Player of the Year award and Members' Player of the Year award in 2021. Head coach Kylee Byrne was excited to have the shooter return for another season. "To see what Cara has achieved in the past two seasons especially has been so pleasing and I have no doubt there is plenty of improvement to come as she adds new dimensions to her game," Byrne said. "Cara is not afraid of hard work and while there has always been incredible raw talent, it's that dedication to her craft that has elevated her status to one of the best shooters in the world." Making her debut in 2017, Koenen said she was thrilled to continue her career on the Sunshine Coast. "Lightning holds such a special place in my heart and I'm glad to continue my time at the Sunshine Coast for the next two seasons," Koenen said. "I'm really enjoying my netball at the moment and the challenge of drawing some of the best defenders each week. "There's a lot of excitement building towards 2022 and I'm confident our Lightning team have a lot to offer, with a mix of returning and new faces." Lightning have announced the departures of foundation player Maddy McAuliffe who has retired from netball, while Peace Proscovia and Phumza Maweni are seeking opportunities elsewhere.  Swifts secure shooting pair NSW Swifts have confirmed that two-time Premiership winning shooting partners Helen Housby and Sam Wallace have re-signed with the club for another two seasons. The England and Trinidad & Tobago internationals join Australian Diamonds Maddy Proud, Paige Hadley, Sarah Klau and Maddy Turner in signing two-year extensions. Housby has played 66 games for the Swifts since making her debut and formed a potent partnership with Wallace. Wallace was named the Swifts' MVP for the third time this year equallng the record of club legend Cath Cox. Collingwood confirm full list for 2022 The Collingwood Magpies have become the first Super Netball club to reveal its entire list for the 2022 season, having locked in eight returning players. Geva Mentor, Ash Brazill, Kelsey Browne, Jodi-Ann Ward, Shimona Nelson and Molly Jovic have signed until the end of 2023, while Gabrielle Sinclair and Jacqui Newton have agreed to one-year deals. It comes the morning after the Magpies announced the signings of former NSW Swifts shooter Sophie Garbin and midcourter Maggie Lind. "We are delighted to have finalised our squad for 2022," coach Nicole Richardson said. Garbin to don Collingwood stripes In the first major move of the signing period, Diamonds shooter Sophie Garbin has signed a two-year deal with the Collingwood Magpies. The 24-year-old from Western Australia has spent the last four seasons at the NSW Swifts, where she has won two premierships along the way. Collingwood has also elevated mid-courter Maggie Lind to the senior roster for the 2022 season. "We're so excited both for Sophie and Maggie," Magpies coach Nicole Richardson said. "It's been fantastic to see Soph's confidence grow over the last few seasons and we think she'll be a really strong asset for us under the ring. With the success she's had with the Swifts and the Diamonds, we can't wait to see her rise to this new opportunity. "Maggie's call up is a huge credit to her constant effort and commitment. We're looking forward to seeing where she can take her game at the next level." Samason secures first full-time Super Netball contract After playing three matches as a temporary replacement player this year, Victorian talent Rahni Samason has signed her first full-time contract with the Melbourne Vixens. The 23-year-old shooter made her debut in round five against the Queensland Firebirds and sunk a match-winning super shot to seal the Vixen's first win of the season. She joins Kate Moloney, Liz Watson, Jo Weston and Emily Mannix at the club for 2022, with Melbourne to announce their sixth signing on Monday. "I've been a part of the Vixens environment for a few years now as a squad member, and travelling with the team this year, so I know the club's values are aligned to the culture I want to be a part of, so I'm thrilled to be a part of that next year," she said. "I've taken away a lot of learnings from my time, particularly this year being able to work with Simone and the team so closely. I know that we're onto something pretty special in this next stage and I'm really excited to play my role in that." Thunderbirds announce Horjus as first signing  South Australian shooter Georgie Horjus has committed to the Adelaide Thunderbirds for a further two seasons, in what is the club's first signing for 2022. In her first season as a contracted athlete, 20-year-old Horjus scored 183 goals and recorded 118 goal assists. She's also a member of the current Australian development squad. "Georgie cemented her place in our starting seven in 2021, building on the potential we saw from her in 2020," Thunderbirds high-performance manager Pitre Bourdon said. "She is an incredibly talented local netballer with strong netball smarts and we're very excited to see her continue to grow in the coming seasons." It comes after the Thunderbirds announced the departure of South African international Shadine van der Merwe. Defensive duo Klau and Turner locked in for Swifts The NSW Swifts have locked in defenders Sarah Klau and Maddy Turner for another two seasons of Super Netball, bringing the number of players retained from their 2021 title team to four. Both defenders are two-time premiership winners with the Swifts and are current members of the Australian Diamonds squad. They join co-captains Maddy Proud and Paige Hadley for the Swifts' title defence in 2022, with all four players integral to the club that's won two premierships in three years. Klau, 26, made her elite debut with the Adelaide Thunderbirds before joining the Swifts in 2017, she's since played 75 matches for the club. "I'm stoked to be on board for another two years. It is not just what we've been able to achieve on the court, but the way we connect off it which makes it a special club to play for," Klau said. "We haven't had much of a chance to play at home so I felt it was only right to sign for another two years and get back out in front of our NSW fans and members after almost two full seasons away. "Winning another Premiership this year was amazing but now we're excited to go back and defend our title on our home court." Turner, who was named most valuable player of this season's final, is on track to became a Swifts centurion in 2022. "I never thought when joined back in 2016 that I'd have two titles and be close to playing 100 games for a club as prestigious as the Swifts. This team has allowed me make my dreams a reality," Turner said. "Winning titles only makes you hungrier for more and while we'll have some changes in our team next year, we are ready to build on what we've achieved already." Meanwhile, fellow defender Lauren Moore has advised the club she would be taking up an offer elsewhere for the 2022 season. Midcourter Charles boosts Fever's attack Verity Charles has recommitted to the West Coast Fever for a further two seasons after a standout season in the centre court. The 30-year-old led the 2021 season in goal assists with a total of 336 from 545 feeds, creating a lethal combination with star shooter Jhaniele Fowler. "I am really excited and my gratitude and appreciation to be a part of this club is super high right now," Charles said. "We've got unfinished business. It was a tough year this year. We've learned, we've seen what we need to do, and I think now we'll put the goods through. It's really exciting times at Fever." Brandley back on court with the Giants Giants Netball have retained a second signature from their grand final team, with in-form defender April Brandley committing to the club until 2023. After joining the Giants as a training partner in 2020, Brandley has spent the last two seasons on the road with her young family and was award the Giants' Players' Player award this year. Brandley has played some of her best netball with the Giants and finished the 2021 season with 21 intercepts, 58 deflections and 14 rebounds. However, she opted out of selection for the 2021/2022 Diamonds squad. The 31-year-old is the second player to re-commit to the Giants for the next two seasons, following midcourter Jamie-Lee Price. "I'm really looking forward to hitting the court with the Giants again next season and I get really excited looking at what's ahead for our team," she said. "The club have been incredible with the support they've shown my family and myself in making the transition from motherhood, to getting back on court. "I feel grateful to be in a place where I'm really enjoying my netball, so I'm very much looking forward to what we can continue to build in 2022." Rav re-commits to Firebirds for two-years Queensland Firebirds co vice-captain Kim Ravaillion has re-signed with the club for a further two years after a hugely impressive season in the purple dress. Named the Laura Geitz Medallist in her first year with the club, Ravaillion is the first re-signing to be announced by the club. Ravaillion said she was determined to taste team success and will remain at the club until the end of 2023. "I signed on because I believe this club has so much potential," said the 28-year-old. "I feel we showed glimpses of what we were capable of which is exciting for what's ahead. "In 2022 I want to be holding that trophy up with my team." Mannix bolsters Vixens' defensive end Emily Mannix is the fourth player to re-sign with the Vixens ahead of the 2022 season. Instrumental in the side's 2020 title win, Mannix has been a vital cog in the Vixens' defensive end and leadership group. Making her debut in 2015, the 27-year-old has had a decorated career including winning the Sharelle McMahon medal in 2019. "Playing for the Vixens is such an honour, and I'm really excited to have signed again, and to be part of this next phase and group that we're building," said Mannix. "This year was obviously frustrating for me personally with injury, but it's given me even more motivation to play my role next year and hopefully take it all the way as a team." Swifts keep their leaders for another two years  The NSW Swifts have retained their co-captains Maddy Proud and Paige Hadley for another two seasons after they helped their team lift the Super Netball title. Integral to the success of the Swifts, the Australian Diamons midcourters led the club to a second title in three years and aim to continue the success into 2022. "I have loved being a part of the Swifts since moving from Adelaide after Super Netball replaced the ANZ Championship and have really found a home in Sydney," Proud said. "With Briony at the helm and sharing the captaincy with Paigey, I have learned so much about the Swifts teams of the past and I think we've given ourselves a great shot to continue their legacy." Making her debut with the Swifts in 2012, Hadley has played over 100 games with the club and wanted to continue wearing the red and blue dress into the future. "I love the Swifts and I am passionate about what we have created over the past number of years, and where we can go in the coming seasons," Hadley said. "I am proud to not just play with a brilliant bunch of teammates, but also represent a club which means so much to so many people all over NSW and beyond. "2022 will be my 11th year with the Swifts and having been on the road for so much of the last two years I can't wait to play at home again in front of my family, friends and of course our Swifts fans." Weston extends Vixens tenure Melbourne Vixens defender Jo Weston has re-signed for a further season, tying her to the club until the end of 2022. The champion-winner and leadership group member has been a Vixen since 2014 and a mainstay of the club, taking home the 2020 MVP award in a Grand Final-winning season. "I'm so proud to have been involved with the Vixens for so long now, and to be signing on again in 2022," Weston said. "Every game is an honour to represent Victoria and Melbourne, and I'm really looking forward to what we can bring as a team next year. "Going in to my ninth season, I've definitely seen the game grow in a lot of aspects. We're stepping into a new phase of the sport that I really hope will help lift the profile of all our athletes, and women's sport in general." Price recommits to Giants Star midcourter Jamie-Lee Price has re-signed with the Giants for another two seasons after she helped lead the side to a Grand Final appearance. The 25-year-old was a leading player for the Giants in 2021 and is one of three players to have played 78 games for the club since their inclusion in Super Netball. A developing leader for the team, Price's re-signing is a big win as they look to do one better in 2022. "I'm really thrilled to extend my time at the GIANTS," Price said. "I'm super excited for the next couple of years - 2021 was a great year for us as a group and I can't wait to build on from the year that was." Fever lock in star duo Bruce and Fowler The West Coast Fever's new era under coach Dan Ryan has begun with the re-signing of two Super Netball stars. Captain Courtney Bruce and Jamaican international Jhaniele Fowler have committed to a further two seasons with the club. The 2022 season will mark Bruce's 11th year at the club and Fowler's fifth in green. Fowler, 32, has been named as the league's most valuable player for three consecutive years and scored the most goals in 2021 with 883 at 96 percent accuracy. Watson commits to ninth season with Vixens Diamonds midcourter Liz Watson will return to Super Netball in 2022 after re-signing with the Melbourne Vixens, in what will be her ninth season with the club. Watson, who captained Australia during March's Constellation Cup, was sidelined for the entire 2021 season following surgery on her foot to repair a fractured navicular bone. She's the second player to commit to the Vixens for next season joining Kate Maloney. Watson made her debut for the Vixens in 2014 and has since won two championships, with her sights set on leading Melbourne back to finals after a disappointing season. "Having had the year off, I'm more excited than ever to get back out on court with the team and show our supporters what they know we can do," Watson said. "Watching on from the sidelines this year has given me more of an appreciation of the wider club and the roles we all play, and I'm looking forward to taking what I've learned in my time off the court and helping rebuild. "This year was not how we wanted to come off the back of a championship, but I know that what we're building for 2022 is really exciting and there's no doubt we have the championship in our sights." England Roses' Haythornthwaite to return home Midcourter Natalie Haythornthwaite has become the second player to leave NSW Swifts after deciding to return home to England. The English international joined the Swifts in mid-2018 as a replacement for the injured Claire O'Brien and went on to play 37 matches for the club, as well as win two Super Netball titles. It comes just a day after shooter Sophie Garbin informed the club she would be taking up an offer elsewhere for 2022. Haythornthwaite will continue her career in the UK's Super League following next month's Test series between the England Roses and Australian Diamonds. "I have loved every moment of my time with the Swifts and playing with - and against - so many of the world's best players in Super Netball," Haythornwaite said. "This year was extra special to win the title in such testing circumstances, and to head home with two winners' medals is something I didn't even dare to dream of before arriving. "After these past few years I am really excited to be going home, getting married, seeing my family and playing some more netball. But I also can't wait to cheer on the Swifts late at night on the TV. "I've loved the journey but now it's time to head home." Maloney a Vixen for 10th straight season  In the first signing of the Super Netball transfer window, Vixens captain Kate Maloney will remain in Melbourne for a 10th straight season after she was awarded the club's most valuable player for a second straight season. Maloney was an integral part to the Vixens first Super Netball title win in 2020 and was inspirational leader as they attempted to go back-to-back in a difficult 2021 season. The Vixens announced on Sunday shooter Kaylia Stanton would be leaving the club after playing 12 matches in her one year with the club. Their coach Simone McKinnis has also re-signed with the club for another four years. Sophie Garbin to pick up options outside Swifts After helping the NSW Swifts to their second title in three years, Sophie Garbin has made the shock decision to leave the Swifts and take up an offer elsewhere. Garbin joined the club in 2018, making her debut for the club in the opening round against rivals the Queensland Firebirds and went on to make 49 appearances for the team. A key component in the Swifts premiership wins, Garbin said she would cherish her years at the club. "It has been an honour to play for a club as prestigious and successful as the Swifts and I will be forever grateful for the experiences and opportunities I've had since joining four years ago," Garbin said. "A lot of players don't get the chance to win a Premiership and I've been lucky enough to win two in my time at the Swifts. That wouldn't have been possible without the support of my Swifts teammates, coaches, club staff and members and fans; all of whom I will be eternally thankful for. "The decision to leave has been one of the hardest I've ever had to make but I would like to thank everyone at the club, its supporters and Netball NSW for an amazing four years."
