BERKELEY, Calif. -- California linebacker Khairi Fortt says he will forgo his final year of college eligibility and declare for the NFL draft.
The school confirmed Fortt's plans Friday after the defender announced his intentions early in the day on his Twitter account.
Fortt, a transfer from Penn State in the summer of 2012, helped provide the Golden Bears with needed speed and playmaking ability in the linebacker corps.
Fortt had 50 tackles in his two seasons at Penn State, then had 64 tackles this season.
Cal went 1-11 in coach Sonny Dykes' first season, losing its final 10. Fortt, who missed much of spring practice with a knee injury, became the third Cal junior to declare for the draft.
