ESPN NFL Insider Mike Sando went to Orlando, Florida, to watch Jon Gruden's QB Camp taping with UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley. Sando has written up Gruden's biggest takeaways from the interview and throwing sessions, in Gruden's voice.
1. When I watch Hundley, I see parallels to Donovan McNabb when he was coming out of Syracuse.
Donovan ran the freeze-option at Syracuse. This kid runs the spread option at UCLA. They are very similar in size. They both have great, magnetic personalities. Andy Reid developed McNabb. Donovan got to watch Doug Pederson, who is a quarterbacks coach now in the league, and he saw him go through the trials and tribulations. He got to get into a rhythm of a weekly routine and he got to develop in the pocket, understanding pass protections, progressions and he became a productive pocket passer. I think that is what Hundley is going to have to do.
