Rawls: 'Rehab is going phenomenal' (1:53)

SEATTLE -- Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls said Sunday that he expects to be full go for the start of training camp.

"Rehab is going phenomenal," Rawls said before Richard Sherman's annual charity softball game. "Running, cutting, working hard, getting back out there. I'm looking forward to being out there the first week. Rehab has been going phenomenal this whole offseason. I don't have a break because I've gotta work 10 times harder. So I'm excited to come back and fill that void in that backfield."

Asked if he'd be full go for the start of training camp, Rawls added, "Most definitely."

The second-year back suffered a fractured ankle and ligament damage during a Dec. 13 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Rawls did not participate in any of the Seahawks' spring practices.

Pete Carroll said last month that he "absolutely" expects Rawls to be ready for the start of the season, but the team has maintained all along that it won't rush him during the summer.

"I think we'll probably ease into training camp," Carroll said in May.

"We won't rush him at that time. We'll just use all the six weeks or something in there, and we'll see what we can take advantage of."

The Seahawks drafted three running backs -- C.J. Prosise, Alex Collins and Zac Brooks -- and will likely want to get a long look at them during training camp.

Rawls piled up 830 yards as a rookie and led the NFL with 5.65 yards per carry. With Marshawn Lynch retired, he is in line to be the Seahawks' primary ball carrier if healthy.
