Houston Texans fire VP of communications Amy Palcic

HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans fired vice president of communications Amy Palcic on Wednesday and sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the team told her she no longer was "a cultural fit."

Palcic was the first woman to have full public relations responsibilities for an NFL team.

On Thursday she called her firing "arguably the most humiliating day of my life" but expressed thanks for the outpouring of support she received on social media after the news broke.

Defensive end J.J. Watt was among those to pay tribute to her Wednesday on Twitter, writing that she was "a massive help in my hurricane relief efforts." Over two years, Watt raised more than $41 million to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

In 2019, the Texans brought Jack Easterby in to assess the culture of the organization. Since then, general manager Brian Gaine and head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien have been fired. Easterby is currently in charge of football operations until the team hires a new general manager.

The rest of the communications staff remains intact.
