HENDERSON, Nev. -- Las Vegas Raiders general manager Mike Mayock has tested positive for COVID-19 and is working from home, Mayock told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.
Mayock, who turns 63 on Aug. 14, said he was grateful to have been vaccinated, saying his symptoms could have been worse but he now feels "very good."
The Raiders had opened training camp with two players on the reserve/COVID-19 list in running backs Jalen Richard and Theo Riddick, but Riddick retired and Richard returned to the team and practiced on Monday. Kicker Daniel Carlson, the NFL's leading scorer last season with 144 points, went on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday.
Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Saturday he was looking forward to some semblance of normalcy with up to 200 invited guests at training camp practices.
"We've just got to keep working and listening and trying to be disciplined to do what the experts tell us to do," he said at the time. "I think we have to remember, at least I do, I'm not an expert. I sure have a lot of opinions. I sure get ticked off when I have to wear a mask.
"I do respect what the experts tell us to do. Until [the virus is] completely gone, we're going to have to continue to monitor things, but, gosh, it's great to have fans. Especially Raiders fan. Not Chiefs fans or any other fans."
In other roster moves Monday, the Raiders waived running back Darius Jackson and placed linebacker James Onwualu on the retired list.
