Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive end Sam Williams was released from a local hospital after being involved in a car accident Thursday afternoon not far from team's practice facility, The Star, in Frisco, Texas.
The team is aware of the accident, and a determination of his availability for Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles will be made after Friday's practice.
According to a Plano Police spokesperson, the accident occurred at roughly 2:15 p.m. CT when Williams was traveling southbound on Preston Road and a northbound vehicle attempted to cross in front of him. The road was partially shut down for about two hours. Williams and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to the hospital as a precaution.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by Plano police but the spokesperson said no alcohol or drugs were believed to be factors.
