After complaints about ice issues at the Barclays Center, the NHL has dispatched an ice guru to work on the New York Islanders' home.
Dan Craig has been helping the team with what Islanders forward Kyle Okposo calls "awful" ice conditions.
"In preparation for upcoming home games we are working closely with the National Hockey League and have installed a temporary dehumidification system, commonly used at arenas during warmer months, in order to provide the best possible ice for Islanders players," Barclays Center spokesman Barry Baum said Sunday, according to the New York Daily News. "We are committed to delivering a first-class experience for players and fans."
"It's got to change," Okposo said. "It's got to be better than that."
The Islanders are in their first year in Brooklyn after playing on Long Island at the Nassau Coliseum since 1972. The Islanders have the third-worst home attendance in the league.
