Ray Emery to start again for Hawks

CHICAGO -- Mired in a season-high five-game losing streak, the Chicago Blackhawks will start Ray Emery in goal Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche, his second straight start in place of Corey Crawford.

"[Emery has] played very well basically every time he's been in the net for us," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "He's been consistent, he's been solid, predictable, dependable. The guys played well in front of him the other night. He earned another start."

In their third game of nine straight on the road, the Blackhawks lost 3-1 to the Calgary Flames with Emery in net on Friday.

In his last start, on Thursday, Crawford gave up five goals before being replaced by Emery in an 8-4 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Chicago ranks second to last in the Western Conference in goals allowed and Crawford is near the bottom of the goalie rankings in both save percentage and goals-against average.
