Changes at Broncos inevitable: Glenn

Brisbane telling Tevita Pangai Jnr he's free to find another club may have blindsided Alex Glenn, but the Broncos captain admits things have to change at Red Hill.

News that Pangai Jnr was granted permission to speak to rival clubs emerged during Thursday's 46-0 hammering by South Sydney, a defeat that leaves the once-proud club back on the bottom of the NRL ladder.

Glenn said the timing during a match was far from ideal and he'd be sorry to see the Tongan international exit the club.

"That's a tough pill to swallow, to be honest," Glenn said.

"I'm not in control of what happens with players going and coming but that's not something you need to be released mid-game."

Coach Kevin Walters announced after the match a mid-season restructure of the entire club would be undertaken and on Friday reports emerged that long-time head of recruitment Peter Nolan and performance chief Andrew Croll were set to be axed.

Walters' assistants John Cartwright and Terry Matterson are also reportedly under the microscope as new chief executive Dave Donaghy acts just over a month after arriving at the club.

Glenn, a Broncos junior who debuted in 2009 and played in the 2014 grand final against North Queensland, said the team's terrible form was simply getting harder and harder to bear.

"I've been at this club for over a decade and this jersey means so much to me," he said.

"We're getting beaten by 40-plus points every week, bro.

"It hurts, man. It's not in the Broncos' DNA and that's the shattering part to be honest."

Unaware what the promised review would mean for him or other players, Glenn conceded it was clear changes, some which may be difficult, have to be made.

"You'd be stupid if you weren't thinking that this was going to happen. It's reality, bro," he said.

"We're getting beaten by 40-plus points. Something has to change.

"The review ... it will be a good thing. There'll be some tough calls to make, and I'm glad I'm not the one that has to make that, but reality is there has to be changes done.
