          Entering the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, American snowboarder Chloe Kim was the heavy favorite to repeat gold in the women's halfpipe. The 21-year-old became an immediate sensation at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

          Kim hasn't slowed down since her Olympic debut. She's continued to stay at the top, winning every International Ski Federation (FIS) halfpipe event since the 2018 Winter Games.

          "They're an upgrade from everything I've done," Kim said of the tricks in a TIME article in January.

          She successfully defended her Olympic gold in the halfpipe with point total of 94 in her first run.

          Here are some facts about the superstar snowboarder:

          17: Kim was just 17 years old when she won gold at the Winter Olympics in 2018, becoming the youngest woman ever to win gold in snowboarding. She also became the sixth USA athlete under 18 to win a gold medal at the Winter Games, per ESPN Stats & Information.

          Another fact to show her dominance during her teens: She became the only athlete in X Games history to earn gold three times before the age of 16.

          4: Kim began snowboarding at the age of four with the help of her father, Jong Jin. He quit his engineering job to become his daughter's full-time coach, helping her enter her first competition at 13.

          8: Kim was 8 years old when she met five-time Olympian and role model Kelly Clark.

          "She tugged on my sleeve and asked to go up the lift with me," Clark said in a story on Team USA's Website. "It was pretty cute."

          Since their meeting, Clark has become a mentor for Kim.

          "Kelly has inspired me to try new things and new tricks," said Kim. "And I know that I can always talk to her if I'm feeling nervous or scared to try something new."

          7: Since winning gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics, Kim has won seven straight FIS halfpipe competitions. Her latest victory came in January, where she scored 90.25 in her first run in the halfpipe final.

          98.25: Kim's winning score for the halfpipe event at the 2018 Winter Olympics was 8.75 points ahead of silver and 12.5 more than bronze.

          3: Kim is fluent in three languages. She speaks English, Korean and French after studying in Geneva, Switzerland in the third and fourth grade.

          1080: Executing a 1080 degree turn in snowboarding isn't an easy task, as Kim has explained. Nevertheless, she made history with this move, becoming the only woman to land back-to-back 1080s in a women's Olympic competition.

          "I wanted to do the back-to-back 10s. I wanted to go bigger." Kim said after notching the historic move in 2018. That third run was for me to prove to myself that I did it, so I could go home and be happy with myself."
